Here’s Why I Might Start Doing My Skincare With A Brush

PSA: your A.M and P.M beauty routines are processing a new-year update, and it’s about to change the way you approach skincare. Because, remember. Remember that skincare doesn’t just draw strength from products; but from the technique of application of said products. Imagine just letting droplets of a serum marinate on your face instead of massaging them in gently. No. It’s too painful to visualise. But isn’t it as straightforward as using your fingers to blend products in? Back to this new-year update: basically, many are now doing their 6-step routines with *skincare* brushes instead of their fingers.

There. Let it sink in a little bit. Because there’s a legitimate explanation behind the sudden switch-up, and you’re going to want to find out why someone would even consider aligning with the beauty trend.

There’s A Reason Why People Are Applying Skincare With Brushes

Explanation 1: Because those with combination skin experience oiliness on some parts of the face and dryness on others, you can pat different products onto your T-Zone than the rest of your face to maximise the efficiency of your routine and achieve better results in the short-term. Attempting patchwork with your fingers instead of a brush will just result in a mess.

Explanation 2: Though brushes aren’t typically associated with exfoliation, the bristles can lift off dead skin-cell build-up from the surface depending on the material of said brush — and and massaging the face with it can promote lymphatic drainage too. These can endow you with a glow — all of this just by changing the application of your products.

Pro Tip: Do ensure that you’re not scrubbing your face. Just move the brush upward from the centre of your face toward the hairline to spread the product/s evenly across the skin.

Explanation 3: You’re also not wasting any product in the process. Your fingers will always absorb some amount of the product because that’s just what your skin does. But dipping a small (clean) brush into a serum or even squirting some onto the bristles will minimise this absorption greatly.

Explanation 4: Another pro is that you’re not transferring any bacteria from your fingertips to your face — though this isn’t entirely dependent on whether you clean your brush and how often. But do remember not to use the same brush for different products to avoid cross-contamination.

You Can Use This Set To Process The New Update

This set includes six brushes, and each brush is crafted for a different step of your routine — while one is assigned to eye-creams, another is intended for mud-masks for proper, even application of the product. The bristles are gentle and soft to the touch, and they won’t tug at or pull on your skin at all.

Are we witnessing the beginning of a new era of skincare?
