While the desi divas started their Cannes 2022 innings on a dramatic note, they went for an understated route on Day 4 of the festival. There were hardly any OTT details in sight and we spotted a lot of ivory, simple cuts, and minimal fits instead. And guess what? Barring a look or two, we actually liked this change of theme. Here’s a low down on some of the simple yet interesting looks that we spotted on Cannes Day 4:
Aditi Rao Hydari In Sabyasachi
We had big expectations from Aditi Rao Hydari and she lived up to them. The actress wore a pristine Sabyasachi saree. The ivory organza drape featured an intricate border and dainty cheenta work. It was paired with a full-sleeved blouse in raw silk.
The look was complemented by an emerald and diamond choker from Sabyasachi Jewellery’s Bengal Royale Collection. Aditi finished her look with a neat bun and a flaming red lip colour. We love how the look is simple yet striking and every bit traditional.
Deepika Padukone In Louis Vuitton
A VIP guest at Cannes this year, DP attended the Vanity Fair X Louis Vuitton dinner last night. No brownie points for guessing that she turned up at the event in a head-to-toe Louis Vuitton look. The outfit included a mini suede jacket in beige and a floral shirt that played peek-a-boo. DP carried an LV handbag and wore the same boots from the brand that she wore on Cannes Day 1. We like how the brown-beige pairing lends this outfit a monotone touch. But, it is getting a tad too predictable ATM and we’d love to see DP shaking up things in the upcoming days.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Pinko
We never thought that there would come a day when we’d use “basic” and “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan” in the same sentence and yet here we are. Her jeans and jacket pairing is not a bad look but it is definitely underwhelming. The pink Pinko blazer does not stand out ‘coz she wore something very similar just two days ago. We love the multi-coloured Louboutin flats but they too look pretty basic when paired with the rest of the outfit. Too simple for Cannes, we’d say.
Urvashi Rautela In Dany Atrache
The queen of all things OTT, Urvashi Rautela decided to take the breezy route for Cannes Day 4 and slipped into a gauzy maxi dress by Dany Atrache. Apart from the gem-encrusted neckline, the satin gown was all simple and it is the soft, flowy fabric that did all the talking.
Hina Khan In Maison Armine Ohanyan Paris
Hina Khan had an easy breezy day before her poster launch. She was spotted sauntering the Cannes street in Maison Armine Ohanyan Paris. The look included a laser-cut denim top and trousers. A turtle neck top in mauve added the perfect layer and Hina finished off the look with metallic stilettos and straight hair. This is a fun, fuss-free look and we admire how effortlessly she carried the look.
Masoom Minawala In Saiid Kobeisy
On Cannes Day 4, Masoom took a break from her grand, flouncy gowns to opt for a straight cut silhouette. Her glittering Saiid Kobeisy gown featured a thigh-high slit and gathered tulle ruffles on one side. Relatively simpler than Masoom’s other red carpet picks, the look had our attention for the sequinned black fabric and how it was tastefully fused with tulle accents. Oh and we also loved her croissant clutch by Judith Leiber India.
Sukhmani Sadana in Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla
Writer and actor, Sukhmani Sadana went for a classic Abu Jani Sandeep saree for her first day at Cannes Film Festival 2022. Her ivory net drape was embellished with gold and silver abla work and was paired with a heavy blouse. This is beautiful, but our only reservation is that it looks more like a wedding outfit.
Well, Cannes Day 4 defs served as a palette cleanser after back to back dramatic fits that we spotted on the initial three days of the film festival. And now, we are all set to soak in some OTT looks yet again. What? It’s called balance, you guys!
