NGL, I have caught the brain fever (pun intended) and the credit goes to the latest offering from the zombie verse—The Last Of Us. According to me, this apocalyptic supernatural thriller is worth the hype. Just two episodes into the show, and I am already hooked to this ghastly saga of zombies and the human will to survive.
Watching The Last Of Us made me thirsty (or hungry #IYKYK) for more tales from the apocalyptic world. If you are also on a hunt for more amazing shows featuring the zombie verse, you are in for a treat. While I wait for the release of a new episode, here are a few similar shows I am planning to binge. You can bookmark this list too.
The Walking Dead
What can be a better place to start than the basics? The Walking Dead is entertainingly grim. Deep, dark, disturbing downers of the show will make you question your sanity at times. However, even when all appears to be lost, The Walking Dead squad shows up with a little glimmer of hope and captures your attention again. Zombies, cannibals, survivors and preys—what else can you wish for?
Where To Watch: Netflix
Z Nation
Just like The Last Of Us, Z Nation is also based on a man’s hunt for answers. The show explores the life after a horrific viral outbreak. The pandemic turned most of the world into brain-thirsty zombies. Z Nation follows a ragtag group of survivors who are looking for the man who holds the key to a cure for humanity. While the show is full of cliché characters and unoriginal storylines, it is hella entertaining.
Where To Watch: Netflix
Lost
Imagine a handful of plane crash survivors—some family, mostly strangers stuck on a deserted island with no hope. This is what got me interested in Lost. TBH, the show is about so much more than island survival. Lost is also about fate, loss, forgiveness, acceptance and love. There are no heroes, no villains in Lost, just people who were dealt a poor hand. While the series is quite long, it is worth the time.
Where To Watch: Disney+ Hotstar
Under The Dome
Can you ever go wrong with a Stephen King adaptation? Under The Dome is based on King’s novel bearing the same name and it is every bit intriguing. The show is based on a small town that gets covered by a massive and transparent dome all of a sudden. As the town’s resources start diminishing and tensions rise, it is each man for himself. NGL, this show reminded me of The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka as it is equally bizarre and impressive.
Where To Watch: Amazon Prime
Happiness
Happiness is a hidden gem in the world of K-dramas. The show takes place in the future, where the release of a failed treatment drug “Next” has caused a global pandemic. Those infected by the virus experience short bouts of insanity and bloodlust. Like The Last Of Us, this show is also about saving humanity from the curse of the zombie infestation.
Where To Watch: Netflix
I am pretty excited about my watchlist for the month! BRB, checking Disney+ Hotstar to see if the new episode of The Last Of Us is out yet.
