You know that moment when your best friend calls you and tells you she’s ‘getttinngggg marrrrriiiiiedddd!’? And at that moment, you’re like ‘OMG! Aaaaaaaaaa’ but really on the inside, you’re like ‘What will I wear?!’ because you’re a true-to-God curvy girl and wedding shopping is a mountain you’re too lazy to conquer?
Well, I know that feeling a little too well. I am currently on bridesmaid duty for my best friend’s wedding, which is in February 2019… so 3/4th of a year away. And all I’m thinking about is what I’m going to wear at my ‘Veere Di Wedding’. Speaking of which, there is a God – because with the movie trailer out and Sonam Kapoor getting hitched there is so much inspo just waiting to be used. Shikha Talsania, Kareena Kapoor’s curvy-licious, hilarious and very stylish friend in Veere Di Wedding is our muse and inspiration today. The Bollywood and theatre actress is killing it with her wedding outfits and we’re more than impressed. So, cheer up, curvy girl, your guide to wedding dressing is here!
Check out Shikha Talsania in her ‘shaadi’ element with these looks from her Veere Di Wedding, on and off screen!
1. Mirror Mirror
The perfect Sangeet outfit courtesy Shikha! Wearing an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla outfit in a peacock blue with intricate Rajasthani mirror work, this Veere Di Wedding look is one of our favourites from the movie. Take a cue from the Bollywood newbie and pick smaller and intricate work to enhance your natural curves in heavy Indian outfits.
2. Yellow, It’s Me
Who says you can’t wear summer colours if you’re curvy? Shikha Talsania looks brilliant in this pastel yellow Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla anarkali with mirror work. A tip from the Bollywood actress’s look – pick well-tailored silhouettes when planning on wearing tricky colours.
3. Silver State Of Mind
It’s true that shiny fabrics and colours make you look bulkier than you are. Use it to your advantage like Shikha in the Tareefan video from Veere Di Wedding. Tucking in a metallic separate into high-waist slimming black pants gives life to that cinched waist, doesn’t it? Nail this as your bachelorette look.
4. Crop It Like It’s Hot
If you’ve been told to stay away from crop tops, show ‘em how it’s done like Miss Talsania here. The actress attended Sonam Kapoor’s big mehendi bash in this (worthy) ivory and grey lehenga by Ritu Kumar. If you like crop tops, you should wear them! Wearing one with a high waist lehenga brings forth the beauty of your natural curviness.
5. Classic Case
This on-screen Veere Di Wedding look of Shikha’s is a classic pairing of black and silver. Heavy on embroidery and an empire waistline – curvy girls, take note! Another masterpiece by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, this anarkali is perfect inspo for your bestie’s wedding!
6. Unicorn Vibes
Isn’t Shikha just nailing this cocktail look? An 80s style lame dress that is stylishly ruched from top to bottom. Now, traditionally a fitted dress would be the typical curvy girl nightmare, but Shikha rocked it, and so can you! Pick a flattering fabric which is snug in all the right places and you’re golden.
Moral of the story – wear whatever you want to wear. Whatever you feel good in. As long as you’re comfortable and confident in it, you will pull it off to no end! After all, it is your *Veere Di Wedding*!
