#FlopShow: Shehnaaz & Paras Ka Swayamvar Won’t Help Soothe Your BB Withdrawal Symptoms

If you spent the last five months glued to your TV wondering if Asim Riaz or Sidharth Shukla would win the Bigg Boss 13 trophy, I can understand your pain, especially when the clock strikes 10:30 pm. And while I was wondering how to fill this void, the host, Salman Khan, announced a new show on the finale night. The new show, called Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, features the biggest entertainers of season 13. Yup, you guessed it right! Shehnaaz Gill as the kunwari kanya and Paras Chhabra as the dulha, who would pick their prospective partners.

Well, both Shehnaaz and Paras have established themselves as the king and queen of reality shows. While Shehnaaz will be remembered for Bigg Boss 13, Paras even has Splitsvilla and Nach Baliye 6 to his credit. Their decision to participate in another controversy-ridden reality show in less than a day is understandable. And their dramatic, out-and-out dirty performances in Bigg Boss would have many more reality shows coming their way.

So I thought I am sorted for the next few months with a new show that stars the same Bigg Boss contestants and airs at the same time slot. And how bad can a show about adults picking a bride and groom get? It’s certainly easier to watch than some crazy TV actors eating tube lights or swallowing laxatives and animals.

So last night Colors TV blessed us with this reality show at 10:30 pm and I got my popcorn ready and put my phone aside to get my dose of entertainment.

And here’s my verdict: Guys, re-watching Bigg Boss 13 or any other old season would be better than watching this show that launched with a promotional overdrive, but failed to deliver. And I am certain that their promotional gimmicks and hype won’t quite translate into viewership. The channel certainly needs to know that there’s a limit to the amount of drama even we can take in. It doesn’t even come close to Rakhi Ka Swayamvar and Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (Rahul was the first to get married on national TV).

The makers didn’t even bother to change the set and add to that host Maneish Paul’s lame jokes. Shenaaz Gill’s attention-seeker image who only wants to hear praises about herself remains intact and Paras is still stuck on ‘Aabra ka Daabra‘ (grow up, dude).

The show that will feature five-six suitors each for Shehnaaz and Paras. The first suitor, Singer Rohanpreet Singh, featured on Rising Star 2, then there is stand-up comedian, Balraj Syal, competing amongst suitors for Shehnaaz. And guess who else? Remember the paragliding guy whose video became fodder for memes? Vipin Sahu is also trying to woo Shehnaaz. The precap also shows Jasleen Matharu (Anup Jalota’s ex-girlfriend and Bigg Boss 12 contestant) trying to woo Paras. Someone trying to impress Shenaaz, sure I get it. But, why are these girls trying to make an impression on Paras!?

The script of the show is weak and is not as tedha-medha as Bigg Boss. And the actors don’t really get the concept of how to ‘act’ in a reality show. Their acting got so irritating that I switched channels just 20 minutes into the show.

However, I might just watch episode 2 only for the reason that the precap showed #Sidnaaz together on stage. Sidharth Shukla and Rashami Desai will come as guests on the show and some media reports even suggest that Sidharth maybe a part of the show. TBH, I don’t think the show should even survive 10 episodes. My advice: Avoid watching this cringe-worthy shaadi show.
