Shark Tank India’s Namita Thapar Reacts To Social Media Backlash & We Totally Agree With Her
In a sea of saas-bahu sagas, Shark Tank India is a breath of fresh air and we are hooked. For those of you who are clueless about this show, here’s what you need to know—it is a reality show where new entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to successful biz gurus, called the Sharks. The participants have to convince the Sharks to invest money in their business in return for equity and the show is super entertaining to watch.
While we loved the concept, some people weren’t too pleased and slammed the show for being biased and unstructured. One of the Sharks, Namita Thapar (Executive Director of Emcure Pharma) recently opened up on the criticism and talked about her experience on the show.
Namita penned a blog and shared, “Last week I heard some names from the start-up ecosystem criticise the show. All I would like to say is that they lost a huge opportunity to impact and influence millions of Indians to understand, respect and take up the entrepreneurial journey. Are there some parts of the show that need improvement? Of course, there are, but it’s only season 1 versus other countries like the US where they are on Season 13. “
She added, “So can we stop judging, instead get involved, and help make it better? This was new for all of us and we learned along the way; we are still internalising and learning. As long as we did this for the right reasons and for the right cause, we will keep working on it and will keep improving”
TBH, we totally agree with Namita here! Shark Tank India is a brand new concept in India and it might take some time for it to get everything right. It is quite easy to sit and scrutinise things but honestly, Shark Tank India is making a difference in the lives of people and that’s a big deal.
Kudos to Namita for not letting the criticism wear her down! NGL, we are currently hooked to the show—it surely has made an impression or as the sharks would say, ‘we are in!’
