From Shahid To Kareena, 8 OTT Debuts We’re Excited About!

Saif Ali Khan was one of the first Bollywood actors to make his OTT debut with Netflix’s Sacred Games. Many doubted his move but he came out a winner! Actors like Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan soon followed suit.

Cut to 2023, Bollywood A-listers have finally realised the power of OTT. Well, the year has quite a few Bollywood biggies, including Shahid Kapoor, making their debut.

1. Shahid Kapoor

The actor is making his OTT debut as a fiery con in Farzi. The crime thriller tells the story of an artist who starts printing counterfeit bills. Directed by ‘The Family Man‘ director duo Raj and DK, the eight-episode series will also feature South Indian superstar Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, and Amol Palekar in important roles.

2. Aditya Roy Kapoor

Aditya Roy Kapoor will star in the Hindi remake of the British hit drama The Night Manager alongside Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala. The spy series follows a gripping chase between a dangerous weapons dealer (Anil) and a covert agent (Aditya). I can’t wait to watch this Malang jodi back in action!

3. Kareena Kapoor Khan

Sabki favourite Kareena Kapoor Khan will soon be seen in a Netflix movie. The film is based on the bestselling Japanese novel Devotion of Suspect X. The untitled murder mystery will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh and features Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat along with Kareena in lead roles. Can’t wait for this one!

4. Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Shilpa Shetty Kundra is all set to make her OTT debut with a promising addition to Rohit Shetty’s cop universe—Indian Police Force. Starring Bolly biggies like Sidharth Malhotra and Vivek Oberoi, the eight-episode drama will present Shilpa as a badass cop. I am excited to watch her perform high-voltage action sequences!

5. Varun Dhawan

The American series Citadel, starring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden, is a sci-fi spy drama created by the Russo Brothers. It will have multiple spinoffs in various countries. Citadel India is one of them. It stars the box office Bhediya, Varun Dhawan alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The series will be helmed by ‘The Family Man’ directors Raj and DK.

6. Vaani Kapoor

Yash Raj Films is all set to disrupt the OTT world with its web streaming venture—YRF Entertainment. Vaani Kapoor will make her OTT debut with a gritty crime thriller produced by the banner. The actress will play the lead in the multi-season show that will be produced on a grand scale. It will be helmed by Gopi Puthran of ‘Mardaani‘ fame. Along with Vani’s small-screen debut, I’m also waiting for our very own desi Netflix with arms wide open!

7. Sonakshi Sinha

Dahaad stars Sonakshi Sinha as a fearless cop investigating the mysterious death of several women in public bathrooms. The murder mystery is created by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar. Currently, in its post-production stage, the web series is expected to release in August.

8. Urmila Matondkar

After being absent from the movie scene for a while, Urmila Matondkar is set for a grand comeback with a thrilling web series titled Tiwari. Even though the makers haven’t divulged any details about the project, it will reportedly get released in August this year and will be based on mother-daughter bond. We’re sure that her digital debut will be a treat for all the 90s kids, who’ve really missed her during this phase of her judaai from the movies.
