The Disney movie we all have been so eagerly waiting for, The Lion King is coming to the big screen soon. The legendary story that idolises the father-son relationship between a lion and his cub has been one of our childhood favourites. And so is the celebrity duo who is dubbing the Hindi version of the film.
During yesterday’s India vs Pakistan cricket match in the ongoing World Cup 2019, Shah Rukh Khan posted a picture on Instagram, in which he can be seen wearing a customised Team India jersey with his son Aryan Khan. But instead of the jerseys saying ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ and ‘Aryan Khan’, they said ‘Mufasa’ and ‘Simba’. And that’s when it hit us!
In the Hindi version of The Lion King, SRK will be dubbing for the character of King Mufasa while his eldest son Aryan will be the voice of Simba, Mufasa’s cub. This is just the bonus the Indian audience, especially fans who have been waiting for Aryan’s comeback, needed.
Shah Rukh and Aryan have previously dubbed for the Hindi version of The Incredibles (2004), where the former voiced Mr Incredible and the latter his son Dash. In fact, Aryan also played the young Rahul Raichand in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).
In a statement, King Khan revealed that the 1994 animated version of the film, also titled The Lion King, is a family favourite and that he can totally ‘relate’ to the character of Mufasa. “The Lion King is that one movie that my entire family loves the most and it holds a very special place in our hearts. As a father, I can totally relate with Mufasa and the endearing relationship he shares with his son, Simba. The legacy of Lion King is timeless, and being a part of this iconic re-imagining with my son Aryan makes it extra special for me.” The actor further said, “We are most excited that AbRam is going to watch this.”
Here are the poster shots of the film that SRK shared on Instagram:
He wrote, “Glad to be a part of this journey… a timeless film. Voicing it in Hindi with my own Simba. The last time we did a film was around 15 years ago and it was ‘Incredible’ and this time around its even more fun. Hope everyone enjoys it 19th July onwards.”
The 1994 remake of The Lion King is a live-action film and all set to release on July 19. It will also release in regional languages such as Tamil and Telugu.
