Selena Gomez is many things — singer, songwriter, actress, and founder of Rare Beauty — but something escaped our observations about the generalist’s pursuits, and it has us stupefied. Because how did we miss this? Gomez is a Barbiecore-era enthusiast too — steadily joining the ranks of Kim Kardashian, Zendaya, Megan Fox and other A-listers alike. Not through her ensembles, wigs, or makeup; but through her lacquers. You’re going to love her interpretation of the trend. Take a look at Selena Gomez’s super-slick, super-subtle nails.
She’s A Barbie(core) Girl Living In A Barbie World
Celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik declared Selena Gomez’s long, squoval-shaped lacquers the perfect canvas to channel Barbiecore onto — with a lavender-pink hue embellishing the nails softly. The singer-songwriter welcomed her thirtieth birthday with them. The manicure was soft, simple, and clean — rivalling the hot, fiery splashes of pink (many underscored by spangles and gems), that are dominating the algorithm under the behemoth that is Barbiecore.
While Barbiecore is associated more with maximalism and delivering envelope-pushing, doused-in-hot-pink looks to the world, Gomez denounced the norm and chose a different vein under the category. She traded in the stilettos and square-shaped manis for less threatening, more relaxed tips; opted for clean nail-beds; and the subtlest shade of pink.
Recreate The Look With:
For her Rare Beauty campaign, Bachik painted her nails a shade of burgundy. The end result was rich and bold and twined with her lip colour effortlessly.
Bachik bottled sunshine for this ray of sunshine and spilt them all over her medium-length, squoval-shaped lacquers for one of her upcoming MVs.
Nothing beats this splash of turquoise on the nails — almost like a refreshing, cooling cascade of water descending upon a pebble on a simmering summer day.
This rose-gold, confetti-like situation is the prettiest manicure ever, and it was created for one of her birthdays. It’s no surprise that Gomez has forgone the extensions for her natural tips.
Still — Barbiecore nail designs FTW. All. The. Way.
