Neem Hair Treatment

“Whether it is treating dry and frizzy hair or helping with getting rid of product buildup on the scalp, this treatment solves all haircare problems. I love using it twice a week,” says Anchal.

To make this neem-infused treatment, you need the following:

  1. 50 ml of coconut oil
  2. 50 ml of sesame oil
  3. 50 ml of lemon juice
  4. 1 cup of neem leaves

The Method

Add all the ingredients into a vessel and heat it on a slow flame for 20 minutes. Strain the mixture and apply it to your scalp. Leave it on for an hour or even overnight!

The Benefits

Neem has antifungal and antibacterial powers. It fights dandruff, conditions the scalp, and leaves your hair feeling shiny and soft. Sesame oil promotes hair growth and has natural SPF properties. Coconut oil can help prevent a dry, flaky scalp and dandruff, as well as split ends and hair breakage. Lemon juice is antifungal and gives the hair a shine.

Use A Clarifying Shampoo

“Using a creamy shampoo can make your scalp more greasy and oily. Switch it for a clarifying one to cut through product buildup,” advises Anchal. Remember all the dry shampoo, hairspray and shine spray you used to give your tresses extra oomph? Using a deep cleansing formula will dissolve all of the buildup more efficiently than your regular ‘ole shampoo.

A Hair Rinse Also Works

If you tend to workout daily or find that your scalp gets greasy often, try rinsing your hair without shampoo. “Don’t shampoo every day but rinse your hair between washes. Condition the ends if required and thoroughly wash off the formula,” suggests Anchal.

Green Tea And Amla Hair Mask

Your scalp is exposed to pollution, the drying air of the AC, heat and other stressors daily so it is obvious that it needs antioxidants to neutralize the free radicals that wreak havoc on it. Anchal recommends using a green tea and amla hair mask once ot twice a week to nourish your mane.

To make the mask, you need:

  1. 2 pouches of green tea
  2. 1 tablespoon of amla powder
  3. 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

The method

Steep the green tea bags in one cup of water. Add the amla powder and lemon juice and mix well to form a paste. Apply all over your scalp and cover with a shower cap. Rinse off after 30 minutes.

The benefits

Green tea is full of antioxidants that repair scalp and hair damage whereas amla is an age-old ayurvedic ingredient that controls hair loss and strengthens roots. It prevents premature greying and promotes hair growth.
