Sara Ali Khan made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 in a lehenga. Her minimal rosy makeup complemented the desi outfit well. For her second red carpet appearance at the French Riviera, the 27-year-old actress opted for a monochrome ensemble with retro makeup.
In a bouffant-style bun with face-framing strands and dark winged liner, Sara was an exact replica of her grandmother Sharmila Tagore!
Sara’s Sharmila-Inspired Look
At her first International red carpet appearance, it seems like Sara paid homage to Sharmila Tagore through her makeup. It seems like there’s more in common between the two than just their bloodline! Notice the same side parting, neutral lips and defined eyes? The only visible difference was that Sharmila Ji’s wig was fluffier and more voluminous.
Through her films, Sharmila Ji set the base for ’60s makeup with a bouffant-style bun, face-framing strands left loose, and a sharp winged liner. The Aradhana star then became known for the look that was replicated by other actresses.
Sara’s hairstylist (Sanky Evrus) and makeup artist (Tanvi Chemburkar) worked in unison to recreate the look.
Get Sara’s Bold Makeup Look
The look is relatively simple to achieve since all the focus is on Sara’s eyes. After your CTM routine, apply a foundation for a clear base. The MyGlamm Super Serum Foundation has the goodness of both skincare and makeup in it, making for an excellent base product.
Then, cover up blemishes and dark circles with a concealer. The LA Girl Pro Conceal HD is great for covering up spots and blemishes.
Sara has fluffy brows while her grandmother had razor-thin ones. Since thin brows are no more a trend, to get fuller brows like Sara, the Benefit Cosmetics Brow Microfilling Pen is a great choice.
Then, coming to the eyes, you’ll need a jet black eyeliner and a kajal pencil. The NYX Professional Makeup Epic Ink Liner and MyGlamm Superfoods Kajal will do the job well.
First, tight-line your eyes (swipe the kajal on your upper and lower waterline). Then, with the liner, draw a sharp wing and fill it in on both eyelids. Blend out kajal on your lower lash lines to make the eyes pop.
A little bit of blush goes a long way even for this look. The Simplynam Girl Next Door Terracotta Velvet Cream Magic Blush is highly pigmented and gives a flush of colour to the cheeks.
A nude lipstick like the Huda Beauty Power Bullet Cream Glow Lipstick will round off the look well.
Part your hair to one side and pull it back, giving it some volume at the crown and secure it with bobby pins. Leave a few stands loose at the temple and ears, and you’re done!
I know what my makeup is going to look like for my next party, thanks, Sara!
