We’re Living Our Truth: This Same-Sex Couple’s Wedding Video Is Going To Move You To Tears

You might’ve heard of ‘love at first sight’. But have you ever heard of ‘love at first follow’? Confused? Well, don’t be! We’re talking about a beautiful love story that began with two people simply following each other on Instagram and today, they’re happily married to each other. Meet Sundeep Dosanjh and Sharath Puttichanda, a same-sex couple living in the US, whose sweet tale will definitely leave a smile on your face. PS: Keep your tissues handy!

It was in December 2019 when Sharath, who is an emergency-medicine psychiatrist by profession in Providence, stumbled upon Sundeep’s coming-out post on his Insta handle. He was so touched by the post that he started following him. One day, Sundeep posted one of the incidents about receiving an offensive remark on his ethnicity. This post led Sharath to comment on it, mentioning that he’s had similar experiences. Sundeep, who is a web and communications specialist in Machu Picchu, then checked out Sharath’s profile, found him cute and started following him back.

Soon, they started talking on DMs and in January 2020, the two planned their first virtual date. After the second one, they decided to meet face to face. Sundeep and Sharath had a 10-day-long date in San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento during which they realised that they wanted to spend their lives together. After they went back to their respective homes, COVID-19 struck the world and their long-distance relationship only got them closer. And guess what, they recently celebrated their one-month wedding anniversary. Yep, you read that right!

Sundeep and Sharath tied the knot on September 25 in a Sikh wedding ceremony that was nothing less than a dream. A day later, they got married according to the traditions followed by Sharath’s family, considering that they are Kodava (an ethno-lingual tribe) from Karnataka.

Sundeep recently took to his Instagram handle to share glimpses of the happy couple and wrote, “It was important to Sharath and I to celebrate our marriage by having a traditional Sikh ceremony and Coorg ceremony. We knew there would be dissenters. But, we’ve both been treated differently, taunted, bullied, excluded and picked on our whole lives. We’ve literally been fighting for acceptance since the day we were born, fighting to survive and be treated the same as our peers.”

Further talking about receiving positive and negative comments about coming out and getting married to his husband, Sundeep wrote, “Change is inevitable. Mindsets will evolve. There are two sides that every person on this planet chooses to be on with regard to every single thing: the right side of history or the wrong side of history. Sharath & I are living our truths & came out to the world by going viral. The choice is yours to make if you’re on the right side of history or the wrong side of history.”
