Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2’s Gehna Aka Sneha Jain Opens Up About Her Casting Couch Experience & It’s Infuriating

When it comes to the entertainment industry, there are always two sides to the coin. While one side is full of glamm and glitz, the other side is full of ugly truths. Several celebrities decide to stay mum on these topics, but there are some who come forward and bravely share their horrific encounters. Kishwer Merchant, Prachi Desai and Ankita Lokhande are some of the actresses who have opened up about their casting couch experience recently.

Now, Sneha Jain, who plays the role of Gehna in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, has shared her tragic experience. She recalled the time when a casting director blatantly asked for sexual favours in exchange for a role in a movie.

While talking to a leading daily recently, the actress revealed that she was offered a lead role in a South Indian movie. She added that she was required to travel to another city to meet the filmmakers and said, “I agreed to travel but I asked him to give me the details of the film like about the storyline, banner, producers and the director. I informed him that I would travel with my mother. Then he told me that there is one condition that I have to compromise with him. I was shocked.”

Sneha revealed that the casting director even asked her to ‘compromise’ with the director of the movie and said, “He further told me that the entire day I have to spend with the director and do whatever he says.”

Despite Sneha’s firm rejection of the repulsive advances, the casting director tried to persuade her and had the audacity of calling her after a week. She said, “I was shocked and told him straight away that this is wrong and I cannot be a part of such a project. He started telling me how it is not a big deal and everyone does it. I told him I don’t want to be famous and bag a movie through all this. If I want a project, I want it on my talent. He called me after a week again and told me that the deal is still on. I yelled at him and asked him to stop calling me as I don’t want to be a part of such a project.”

While casting couch has plagued our entertainment industry for a long time now, we are glad that more actors are now being vocal about it. We laud the actress for sharing her experience with her fans. We hope that the industry learns its lesson and starts focussing on just actors’ talent.
