Oh Girl! Rubina Dilaik’s Latest Shoot In Thigh-high Boots Is Making Us Uncomfortable

Okay, we have said this before and we are saying it again–Rubina Dilaik needs to rethink her style. Stat! Don’t get us wrong here. We absolutely love Rubina and know for a fact that she can give anyone a run for their money with one of her saree looks. However, God save us when it comes to some of her western wear outings! Case in point? Rubina’s latest photoshoot and the thigh-high boots that she thought would look good with her summer OOTD! No points for guessing that they did not. Here’s everything that’s making us uncomfortable about her latest look:

Now before getting into the details here, let’s first establish that Rubina Dilaik is one of the most celebrated faces of Indian television. Also, she is someone who has access to cool designers and can legit kill it provided she plays her cards right in the styling department. Sadly, that’s where she ends up failing, almost always. 

For instance, in the latest pictures, she is wearing a Surabhi Gandhi skirt and top set. And if we look at the outfit in isolation, it is actually a pretty fun summer pick. Starting with the skirt, we love how a layer of colour has been added to the pink lace separate with its mint green lining. The embellished top and its tasseled hems are equally lovely if you ask us. This is a pretty neat outfit, just perfect for the summertime festivities. Well, of course, it is the suede boots that are sticking out like a sore thumb.

We have so many questions here. Firstly, who wears thigh-high suede boots during humid, summer weather? Seriously, aren’t these boots impractical AF? Also, what should we do about the second-hand paseena that we are getting after looking at these pictures? Yup, it is making us that uncomfortable. 

But okay, let’s put all of that aside for a moment here. Let’s put this boot-skirt outfit in an ideal world where the Mumbai heat and humidity won’t kill you within an hour of slipping into these abominations. And we have a very simple question to ask: can these boots actually look good with anything? ‘Coz as far as we are concerned, the toe and ankle cutout details are a hard pass! The old hotel carpet-like texture isn’t helping the situation either. 

Well, for someone who likes to play dress-up ever so often and then put up pictures, Rubina Dilaik really needs to re-think her style. The logic is simple–why settle when you can do better, right?
