Rohit Shetty is the first name that comes to your head when you think about a big budget blockbuster action film. From cars flying, high-octane action sequences to protagonists fighting villains in slow motion, Rohit Shetty’s signature moves set him apart from the rest of Bollywood.
After delivering two successful cop drama films, Singham and Simmba, Rohit has announced a third cop film starring Akshay Kumar titled Soorvanshi.
But what we are more curious about is Rohit’s statement in a recent interview. The director spoke about how he has a cop universe in mind and he wants to create a universe of cop films just like Avengers. According to him, a police officer is no less than a superhero.
He said, “Whatever happens in America, Hollywood happens here 10 years down the line. That’s been the theory always. When I was watching the Avengers series I got an idea that why don’t we create a universe. Obviously, we don’t have the kind of budget to make many superheroes movies year after year. Then I thought to make a cop universe from Simmba onwards.”
He also revealed that he plans to make a female-led cop drama film after Sooryavanshi. He said, “I want to do that. In fact, I’m developing such a character. There’s definitely the germ of an idea of a woman cop film. There has to be a woman supercop too. Soon, we will be making it. We have a story in mind. We will do it definitely. We will take a year or so but we plan to do that to complete the universe.”
Well, Mr Shetty can take inspiration from some of the female cops portrayed by actresses in Bollywood over the years. Here, have a look!
