Retro Queen: Kangana Ranaut Just Gave Us Three Standout Saree Looks & Here’s Our Fave From The Lot
After much to and fro, Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi is all set to hit the screen on September 10. Ahead of the big release, the actress is ensuring to keep all eyes on her with her flawless sartorial game. The world’s aware of Kangana’s prowess to fully embrace any character that she is playing at a given moment and the situation is no different this time around. Of late, Kangana had been exuding solid retro vibes as she resurrects Jayalalithaa’s yesteryear charm, back from the heydays of her film career. Currently busy with the film’s promotions, she just gave us three distinct retro saree looks and well, we are hooked. Here’s a lowdown on each one of her sarees and our final verdict on which one we like the best. Read on:
Retro Chic
For her latest outing, Kangana Ranaut opted for a striking Sabyasachi beauty and the saree has our heart for its lime-green hue. With no embellishments on the body, the saree features an antique gold marodi border and has been paired with a sleeveless blouse. Now, as you might be aware that plunging necklines are an internal part of Sabyasachi’s aesthetics. However, the designer has kept it quite modest for this fit thus maintaining the overall retro vibe of the look.
Also, a special shoutout to Kanagana’s stylist for the luxurious bob and the plait detailing that has been positioned like a hairband.
Retro Classic
For retro look two, Kangana was seen donning a custom-made gold Banarasi saree along with a matching crew neck blouse. The actress elevated the look with contrasting emerald jewellery which she originally planned to wear for her fourth national award ceremony that got delayed because of the pandemic. An opulent Banarasi in itself is as retro a look as any and Kangana has added to the overall appeal with her beehive hairdo and cat eyes. Her elbow-length blouse is, of course, adding to the impact. All in all, you could tell us that she was an actress from the 80s and we’d believe you.
Retro Festive
Kangana kickstarted her promotion spree in an outfit that perfectly goes with the current festive spirit. Featuring the striking contrast of tangerine and magenta, her saree was matched with a V-neck blouse and a gajra was added to the look to elevate its festive appeal. The outfit is evocative of the Indian actresses from the 90s, dressed to the nines and waiting for the moon to break the karwa chauth fast. You know what we are talking about!
Verdict
Our favorite look from the lot? Well, that’s a toughie but we do have an answer. It has to be the lime green Sabya saree with its quintessential retro aesthetics and the striking hue that would be fit for all sorts of festivities. It is as retro as it is contemporary, almost timeless in its appeal, and well, who doesn’t stan a classic garment?
