This Is Where Ranbir Kapoor Took Deepika Padukone On Their First Date

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are literally the couple who define the phrase “the one who got away.” While the two are extremely happy in their respective lives, a part of us can never forget the time when they were together. Well, it was certainly great while it lasted. *sigh* If you’re also a Ranbir and Deepika fan like us, then this throwback story from their courting days will warm your heart!

Back in 2007, Ranbir and Deepika met each other while they were shooting for their respective debut films. They were introduced through a common friend, and sparks flew immediately. While Deepika fell harder, Ranbir fell first! After meeting DP for the first time, he asked her out on a date. And of course, DP said yes! The two went for a romantic lunch at the Grand Hyatt hotel which was followed by a movie date and a long drive.

Recalling exactly what Deepika wore for their first date, Ranbir once shared in an interview, “I clearly remember she was wearing a white ganji and white linen pants. She had her hair tied up in a bun.” Deepika, on the other hand, had a very different take on the outfit that her then-boyfriend, Ranbir, wore on their first date. She seemed to have been annoyed with Ranbir’s choice of footwear for the occasion. She said, “I don’t remember really. He was wearing layered clothes: a T-shirt and a half sleeve shirt on top of it. Oh, how can I forget the ugly shoes that he had worn?”

Ranbir On His Relationship With Deepika Post Break Up

In an interview, Ranbir Kapoor once opened up on how he visualises his past with Deepika and mentioned it would be a cherished memory for him always. He said, “I feel I have grown as a person. I have spent one and a half year with that person and that person has only added to my growth. I will cherish that experience with her because I have learned so much about life, commitment. You value commitment even more from these relationships. But I am not a commitment phobic. I have really just not met that person who I really want to settle down with.”

Although we miss Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as a couple, we’re glad they both found their true love and continue to remain friends. BRB, manifesting another RK and DP film soon!
