Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s pairing in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was every bit iconic. The two stars had never worked together but managed to pull off electric chemistry on the screen. More than their gripping storyline, it was their intimate scenes that made all the buzz. Recently, RK opened up on how worried he was while shooting steamy scenes with Aish.
In an old interview with a radio channel Ranbir shared that he felt ‘shy’ and ‘hesitant’ while shooting intimate scenes with Aishwarya in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Believe it or not, RK was even reluctant to touch her cheek. Thankfully, Aishwarya reminded him that they were simply performing their roles and that helped him to get over his ‘sharam‘.
Ranbir said, “Sharam aati thi, mere haath shiver hote the. Kabhi kabhi main unke gaal ko touch karne main jhijhakta tha. (I was feeling very embarrassed, my hands were shivering. Sometimes I would feel hesitant even to touch her cheek)”
He revealed how he got over the awkwardness and said, “Phir maine socha, kabhi aisa mauka milega nahi, so maine bhi mauke pe chauka maar diya (Then I thought, I will never get a chance like this again. So, I delivered by best)!
In all honesty, it must be tough to shoot intimate scenes with an actress of Aishwarya’s stature. Ranbir wasn’t wrong to feel shy. But luckily he got over it!
TBH, Ranbir and Aishwarya’s intimate scenes in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are so tastefully done, I can’t even imagine that RK had such a hard time shooting for them. I guess that’s what they call the mark of a good actor.
I am planning another rewatch of ADHM ‘coz Ranbir’s revelations have made me hella curious.
