The Trailer Of Priyanka Chopra’s The White Tiger Is Out & Twitter Is Seriously Impressed

The first trailer of The White Tiger, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rajkummar Rao, and Adarsh Gourav, dropped on October 28, and fans can’t seem to stop talking about it. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by the same name, authored by Aravind Adiga. Aravind won a Man Booker Prize in 2008 for his book, which also happened to be his debut novel. Well, that really sets the bar high for the audience and after such an engaging and intense trailer, fans are already excited about the movie!

In the trailer, we see Adarsh Gourav portraying the role of a poor driver, Balram Halwai, who works for a rich urban-class couple–Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao. The entire narration is from the perspective of Balram, just like how it is in the book. Viewers can make out from the first half of the trailer that Balram is a dedicated help of his employers and tries hard to impress them on every occasion. Rajkummar and Priyanka seem to be genuinely nice people who treat Balram with respect. However, a new angle is revealed in the later half when Priyanka and Rajkummar face a difficult situation in their lives. The darker theme hints at greed for money and violence, without giving away anything major. 

Aravind Adiga’s New York Times bestseller is the story of a poor man trying to break free from his destiny and past and rise above his socio-economic status. The title of the story is actually a tribute to the only rare animal that is a symbol of freedom and individuality–a white tiger. Priyanka Chopra posted the trailer of her movie on her social media handles and captioned it, “You believe your destiny is what was bred in you… till you find a way to break free. I’m so proud to be part of this project.” 

The trailer is already getting the viewers excited for a promising movie, and Twitterati agree. Soon after the trailer dropped, fans flooded the microblogging site with positive feedback, expressing their excitement for the movie.

What’s impressive is that not only is Priyanka Chopra acting in the movie, but she is also producing it. Our desi girl has been very selective about the movies she produces as she wants Hollywood to get the true essence of the rich South Asian culture. To choose a project like The White Tiger that represents the blatant class divide in our country as well as the high aspirations of a common man is quite commendable.

One of the major highlights of The White Tiger is that well-established actors like PC and Rajkummar are supporting a newbie, Adarsh Gourav, as the lead of the movie. The fans did not miss this fact and had all kinds of positive things to say about such a fresh gesture by actors in the industry.
