The Woman Who Changed India’s Jet-setting Ways

Kanika Tekriwal, CEO & Co-Founder of JetSetGo, likes to fly high with every move that she makes. Quite literally! Tekriwal was 22 and only a year into developing her business model when she was diagnosed with cancer. But her determination was rock-solid. She fought her way through it and also made her game plan for JetSetGo at 24. When her company finally went aloft in 2014, she had a concrete vision for it—JetSetGo was going to be the ‘Uber of skies’. Tekriwal started off with only $100 in her pocket and invested in a website. In July 2015—within a year of its inception—JetSetGo raised funding from Yuvraj Singh’s startup fund YouWeCan Ventures. Post that, capital and investments flew in. Today, JetSetGo has got on board almost 80% of India’s private jet fleet and has offices across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Dubai, and New York. Tekriwal is now calling the shots in a typically male-dominated bastion and touching the skies. 

JetSetGo is the face of luxury travel in India now. A pioneer in the field, Tekriwal has aggregated a fragmented market and revolutionised the private aviation industry. She has played a pivotal role in making private flying in the country more efficient, transparent, and economical. With JetSetGo, Tekriwal has dared to dream big and envision the future of air travel in India.

Power Move

Currently, JetSetGo boasts of the largest fleet of private aircraft in India. In 2021, JetSetFleet Management Services IFSC Private, a leasing arm of JetSetGo Aviation, became the first Indian leasing business to directly import an aircraft. This aircraft was brought for leasing and offering other ancillary services in the country. To lease out the aircraft, Tekriwal and her co-founder, have come up with a novel financing strategy where they will offer a ‘pay-as-you-go’ arrangement. Under this model, they get compensated based on how much the aircraft flies. This is not just a big milestone for Tekriwal, but also a momentous move for India’s aviation industry.
