Seven years ago, our Founder & CEO Priyanka Gill started POPxo with the aim of championing women and telling their stories. Today, as an extension of that endeavour, we are proud to announce The POPxo Power Women List–an annual list that celebrates incredible Indian women from diverse domains who make power moves that have a real impact.
Who exactly is a power woman, you may ask? A POPxo Power Woman is someone on a mission to make the world a better place. She strives to become the best version of herself, on her own terms. She inspires and motivates us to write our own success stories.
2020 was a year of unprecedented crisis, and we all made efforts to overcome challenges. However, some women hit it out of the park by not only swiftly adapting to the new normal, but also making strides that had a lasting impact. A key to real change, their power moves helped them reinvent and shape their company/brand and the world for the better. These women have shown by example that there are no barriers when it comes to wanting to make a difference and achieving a goal. That is what makes them unstoppable and that is why it is our privilege to recognise them on The POPxo Power Women List 2020.
Who Are The POPxo Power Women of 2020?
The POPxo Power Women List 2020 features Shabana Azmi, Priyanka Chopra, Swara Bhaskar from Indian Cinema, Fashion Designer Anita Dongre, Journalist Namrata Zakaria, Pastry Chef Pooja Dhingra, Model & Content Creator Sakshi Sindwani, Content Creator Leeza Mangaldas, Fitness Expert Zoe Modgill, Journalist Faye D’Souza, Surgeon and activist Dr Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju, Entrepreneurs Arushi Sethi and Aditi Gupta, Activist Ruchira Gupta and Motovlogger Vishakha Fulsunge. These women went the extra mile and impacted the lives of many with their relentless work, charitable efforts, and awareness campaigns.
“Shattering stereotypes, breaking barriers and creating history are remarkable achievements no matter the circumstances, but doing all of this in 2020 takes the kind of courage of conviction most people only dream of and that is what the POPxo Power Women list is all about. At POPxo, we have always believed in celebrating women and lifting each other up. 2020 was a year that shook us all, and yet there were remarkable women who went the extra mile and pushed themselves to do more. We are also excited to have partnered with Pratham and Adharshila where we will be donating 2000 MyGlamm Wipeout Sanitising Kits and 2000 masks in the name of the POPxo Power women and hope to make a small impact of our own,” says Priyanka Gill, Founder & CEO, POPxo.
How Were The 15 POPxo Power Women shortlisted?
The selection of the incredible 15 was a focussed and rewarding process. For the POPxo Power Woman List 2020, as the world wrestles with a global health crisis, we looked at women leaders who reinvented or diversified their brands/ businesses/careers to adapt to the new normal, and the initiatives and swift actions they took to face the challenges posed by the pandemic. They made big power moves in 2020 and their actions had a positive impact on a lot of people. You can learn more about our selection process here.
How Will POPxo Celebrate The Power Women?
It is our privilege to include these phenomenal women on our list. And we will celebrate them the way we know best: by telling their story. Each Power Woman has an incredible one and we will capture it right here for you, dear reader. This way, these incredible women, we hope, will inspire a whole new generation to reach for the stars.
As a token of our appreciation, POPxo will also make a donation of 2,000 MyGlamm Wipeout Sanitizing Kits on behalf of the POPxo Power Women to our non-profit partner organisations–Adharshila and Pratham. In a pandemic-riddled world, having access to sanitizing products is the need of the hour, and MyGlamm’s sanitizing kits clean and sanitize, without being harsh on the skin.
Why We Chose Pratham?
Pratham is an organisation working towards improving the quality of education in India. Their programs are designed to ensure education reaches all children who are in school or unable to use school facilities. Their mission is to make sure that every child not only attends but also thrives in school. Initially established to educate kids in the slums of Mumbai, Pratham is the first organisation to achieve lasting, wide-scale success in India’s educational landscape. We chose Pratham because they are shaping the future leaders of this country. POPxo wants to give every child the opportunity to change the world one day.
Why We Chose Adharshila?
Adharshila provides quality education to children from underprivileged backgrounds. Through their programs, the organisation works on teaching children to be self-reliant. Adharshila also works on women’s empowerment programmes to help underprivileged women develop various skills. We chose them because they are making great strides in uplifting women, who one day might feature on this list! The organisation is registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882 with special tax exemptions under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act 1961 and under Foreign Currency Registration Act.
We are beyond thrilled to honour the 15 trailblazers on The POPxo Power Women List 2020. We hope they inspire you to write your own success stories!
