#SaveYourSkin: 6 Places You Didn’t Know You Should Apply SPF

Simar Rana  |  May 6, 2016

Applying a sunscreen or a facial moisturizer with SPF everyday is a great start to protecting your skin against the harmful rays of the sun. However, it is not only your face that needs protection. Whether or not you’re spending too much time outside, you do need to apply a good amount of SPF wherever your skin is exposed. While you may be focusing on the obvious spots—arms, legs, face—you need to be paying attention to these neglected spots too! We have for you 6 not-so-obvious places where you should be applying sunscreen!

1. Lips

Ever noticed how cricketers have not only white faces but also white lips? Well, they have good reason. You might notice your lips feeling extremely dry as the heat soars. And trust us, that’s not a leftover effect from the winter. The heat and the sun do have an affect on your lips too. Luckily for us, lip balms with SPF are not a rare sight anymore. Even if you do have trouble finding one, using a lotion or cream with SPF is a great option to prevent a case of “desert lips”.

2. Eyelids

While you’re rocking those sunglasses (and they hopefully have UV-protection lenses), you still need to protect the delicate skin around your eyes. The burning feeling of getting sunscreen in your eyes is not great, which is why there are now options that won’t irritate your eyes! No more excuses to leave your lids exposed!

3. Feet and Under Feet

With summer also come cute summer sandals, in which the skin on your feet is totally exposed. Believe it or not, the bottom of your feet face the wrath of the scorching sun too! Save yourself the pain and apply a good moisturising lotion with SPF. A good option for an even skin tone and sun protection is the Vaseline Healthy White SPF  24 PA ++ Lotion, which contains vitamin B3 and antioxidants that help make the skin look brighter!

4. Nails

Yes, UV rays CAN turn your nails yellow! Since your hands are always exposed, and the scorching summer is clearly in its full force, yellowish nails are quite a possibility. The good news is, you don’t need to splurge on SPF nail polishes – a good sunscreen will do the trick. 🙂

5. Ears – Front & Back

A cute hat might protect your scalp and face, but that won’t work unless you’ve got yourself a big hat! So, make it a point to get the top and back of your ears while applying sunscreen to your face!

6. Nape

No, your hair is not good enough protection for the back of your neck. The minute you bundle it up in a pony or a bun (which you eventually will, given the heat!), your delicate skin there will be directly exposed to the sun. Make sure you avoid the harm that can be caused by the mighty sun! And since you’ll be needing an absolutely light and non-greasy lotion for this, Vaseline Healthy White SPF 24 PA ++ Lotion serves the purpose.
