Global superstar Priyanka Chopra met American pop star Nick Jonas for the first time at the Met Gala in 2017. They attended the most prominent fashion event of the year together because they were both wearing Ralph Lauren (not because they were dating). Eventually, of course, they reconnected, and the rest, as they say, is history.
It’s safe to say that fashion played an essential role in their courtship, which is why it’s poetic justice that on Wednesday, they were named the Best Dressed Couple of 2019 by People Magazine. This is the first time in the magazine’s history that a couple has shared the top spot. In fact, no man has ever had this honour before.
“It’s the first time ever that we have had a man or a couple on the Top 10 list, let alone as the best dressed. But it really felt like these two deserved it. The combination of the two of them is so exciting to watch. Nick Jonas is not exactly someone who just wears a black tuxedo and stands next to her on the red carpet. You can tell that he enjoys fashion as much as she does,” People‘s style and beauty director Andrea Lavinthal told Reuters.
Priyanka became the first Indian to star as the lead in a US television drama with Quantico in 2015, after which she has worked in movies and has been on the cover of countless American publications. She’s also a regular at some of the most high-profile celebrity red carpets every season. But the fact that she’s a bonafide fashionista is not news to her Indian fans, who have been drooling over her looks for years!
In 2018, she married heartthrob Nick Jonas in one of the grandest weddings we’ve ever seen, and Nickyanka immediately became everyone’s favourite celeb couple. Nick also reunited with his band this year and the Jonas Brothers released Sucker, their first single together after six years.
