11 Party Makeup Do’s And Don’ts That’ll Majorly Up Your Glamm Game

Party season has entered the building, and obvi, we’re ready to get glamm. This is the perf time to pull out all the beauty stops with dramatic falsies, sparkling eyeshadow, and glossy locks. However, in contrast to party ‘fits that are easy to come by – given the ever-broadening styles of sequined gowns, LBDs, and sky-high pumps – party makeup can be a tad harder to execute.

From patchy makeup base to too much mascara or overly sculpted brows – there are plenty of mistakes to watch out for. As for glamm lovers like us, a party is about 10x more fun when we feel like we look our best – we are listing down makeup tips to nail a bomb face beat. Keep swiping!

Party Makeup Can Be Intimidating – So We’re Listing Down The Do’s And Don’ts

Do: Start With Clean Skin

No matter how well you do your makeup – if you aren’t doing it on clean skin the end result won’t look its best. So make sure your skin is free from dirt, grime, and the prior day’s makeup before reaching out for cosmetics. We recommend using a gentle chemical peel to slough off dead skin cells and get a smoother complexion. Alternatively, using a cleansing balm and a hydrating face wash will also get the job done.

Do: Harness The Power Of Skincare

A bomb makeup starts with good skincare. We recommend applying your skincare products first and letting each product sink in before moving on to the next step. If you want skin so luminous even the Moon’s jealous, start by slapping on a sheet mash to increase radiance, plump skin, and even out complexion. Follow it up with a face serum and moisturiser.

Do: Eyes Before Face

Whether you’re planning to keep your lids minimal or hoping to make a statement – it’s best to apply your eyeshadow, liner, and mascara before applying the rest of your makeup. This way you can avoid the fallouts that ruin a perfectly-applied foundation.

Do: Embrace A Lil’ Shimmer

There’s no better time to experiment with shine and sparkle than the party season. For a dimensional glitter application, start with a matte eyeshadow and top it off with a metallic shimmer shadow before adding a touch of glitter to take it to the top.

Do: Enhance Your Eyes With Full, Fluttery Lashes

False eyelashes are a fast-track ticket to take your eye makeup from so-so to outstanding. Pick a pair that enhances your eye shape and all eyes are going to stay on yours.

Do: Create A Lifting Effect With Concealer

Apply concealer under the eyes in a lifting direction to the temples. Apply it on your chin. Create a tree canopy in the center of your forehead and a tree trunk down the center of your nose. Blend everything to give your face a snatched, lifted look.

Do: Add Warmth To Your Face With A Blush

Blush is the #goat beauty product and no party makeup look is complete without a stitch of it. Use a cream blush for a natural-looking flush. Apply it on the apples of your cheeks and blend it towards the temples for a lifted look.

Don’t: Skip The Primer

Once you’re done with your skincare routine, now is the time to dive into makeup. Primer is a non-negotiable step if you want a silky-smooth canvas for your makeup to adhere to. Illuminating primers work wonders to take your glamm game from regular to remarkable. Plus, it also ensures that your eye makeup not only stays but it performs too.

Don’t: Focus On Your Eyes And Lips, Pick One

As much as you love sporting a statement eye and a bold lip – it’s best to stick to one bold feature at a time. For example, if you’re going for bold smokey eyes, let your complexion shine by opting for nude lip colour. Likewise, when you’re wearing a bold lip colour, keep your eyes a bit more toned down.

Don’t: Be Afraid

Life is too short for boring makeup looks. The sky is the limit when it comes to party makeup looks so don’t be afraid to go all-out with vibrant liners, glittery eyeshadows, and dramatic false lashes.

Don’t: Go Overboard With Foundation

Pick a foundation that boosts your complexion while letting your skin look like skin. It should give seamless coverage while evening out your skin tone and imparting a lit-from-within radiance.
