Not Ambanis, This Family Owns The Largest Private Residence In India!

We have all heard about the extravagantly lavish lifestyle of the Ambanis. While we all drool over the family’s array of luxurious cars, private jets, and an exquisite collection of jewels, their home sweet home Antilla remains at the top. Being one of the costliest houses in the world, it possesses all the facilities you and I couldn’t possibly even imagine. However, did you know the world’s largest private property is not Antilla, but another private Indian home? Scroll down to know more about it:

Laxmi Vilas Palace—World’s Largest Private Property

Owned by the Gaekwads of Baroda, Laxmi Vilas Palace is the largest property in the world and has over 170 rooms. It was built in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture style. The Palace is situated in Vadodara and has every luxury one can think of. At the time of construction, it was equipped with the most modern technology available such as elevators.

Laxmi Vilas Palace also has a golf course, which was originally built by Maharaja Pratapsinh in the 1930s for his European guests. As per reports, the palace is beautifully decorated with more stain glassed than any other place in the world. It holds an impressive collection of old armouries and sculptures in bronze, marble, and terracotta. However, in the 1990s, Maharaja’s heir HRH Samarjitsinh (who currently heads the erstwhile royal family), renovated the course and opened it to the public. Post that, many Bollywood films like Prem Rog, Dil Hi Toh Hai, Sardar Gabbar Singh, and Grand Masti were shot at the property.

Reportedly, Laxmi Vilas Palace is spread over an area of 3,04,92,000 sq ft., which is approximately four times the size of Buckingham Palace, which covers 828,821 square feet. On the other hand, Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia is spread over an area of 48,780 square feet. Without further ado, scroll down to see what this grand palace looks like:

The sprawling property is open to public visits all days of the week, except Mondays. The ticket cost Rs. 200 And it includes a complimentary audio tour guide in English, Hindi, & Marathi. The tour takes about an hour and visitors are not permitted to take photographs inside the palace. Water & other cold beverages are available at a charge for visitors. The best part? You can also host weddings here, but only if you’re willing to shell out a grand chunk of money.

Not sure about y’all, but I’m def curious to visit this beauty soon!
