If there’s one thing we all can unanimously agree on, it’s that 2020 was quite a year. From the pandemic leaving us isolated at home to, the constant anxiety for ourselves and our loved ones’ safety, it’s all been very trying. If there’s anything that’s positive about last year, it’s the fact that the beauty industry saw some serious innovation.
From a hairstyler that straightens hair with minimum damage to metallic lipsticks taking over the market, these launches made us super excited.
Dyson Corrale
You know when Dyson launches a hair tool, it’s going to be worth reading about. After changing the styling game with its Airwrap in 2016, the company recently unveiled a hair straightener that… wait for it…straightens your hair while reducing heat damage by half compared to your conventional iron. The other perks? It is cordless which means you can wield it easily and has flexible plates that gather all of your hair and distribute heat evenly. This basically means that you won’t have to go through the trouble of ironing sections of your mane repeatedly.
Daughter Earth Vitamin-E Lip & Cheek Tint
This multipurpose balm is one for the books! It’s very buildable, lightweight and the perfect colour to brighten up any and all skin tones. Plus, it is formulated using skin-friendly ingredients like moringa, vitamin E, sweet almond and coconuts. Think of it as pigment-infused skincare.
Kerastase K Water Treatment
If your goal is Kim Kardashian-esque glass-like hair then this one won’t disappoint. Try Kerastase’s new in-salon treatment, K water. The clear liquid used in the treatment is actually chock-full of ingredients that attach themselves to the hair shafts and smoothen them.
MyGlamm Molten Matte Metallic Liquid Lipstick
Though all the seven shades of the MyGlamm Molten Matte Metallic Liquid Lipstick are beautiful, the shade Aphrodite is our firm favourite. If you’re looking for a statement lip colour that is transfer-proof and long-lasting, go for this one! Pro tip: Exfoliate your lips before applying this lip colour so that the glitter specks in the formula don’t settle in the cracks of your lips.
House of Beauty Electric Gua Sha For Body
This electric Gua Sha can be used all over your face and body. It helps relieve body pain and tightens and tones skin. Unlike a traditional jade or rose quartz stone, this face tool combines the perks of Gua Sha (think balancing your chi) and a microcurrent facial (improves blood circulation and collagen production).
The pandemic did change the way we approached beauty in 2020. From applying face masks to wearing them all day, the way we lived life pre-COVID is now a distant memory. In these trying times, many people followed skincare routines as a form of self-care and the beauty industry really rose to meet the needs. Kudos!
So, tell us, which was your favourite launch, and why?
