Believe it or not, Gmail, Google Drive and Google Docs among other Google services seem to be facing a global outage today. Several users worldwide are reporting that Gmail is down and are facing issues while sending emails or uploading files on Google Drive. In addition to it, there are reports of some users not being able to upload any attachments either. Are you nodding in agreement? Well, this could only happen in 2020!
Amidst all the chaos on the internet, Google acknowledged the issue. They wrote, “Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update (later) with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience,” confirming that it is not a minor bug.
This is the second time in two months that Gmail has suffered an outage. In July, several users in India were unable to log into Gmail for a short while. Even though the issue was fixed quickly, Google hadn’t offered any disclosure on why the outage might have happened. However, this time, the outage has impacted users not only in India but across Asia, Europe, and the US too.
Soon after the outage was reported, hashtags like #Gmail and #GmailDown started trending on Twitter. While some netizens have flooded the microblogging site with several queries, others are having a field day. From being happy about the no-work day to stressing over meeting deadlines, here’s how Twitterati reacted to the Gmail outage.
