Staying Alone During Lockdown? Dutch Govt Asks Singles To Find Themselves A ‘Sex Buddy’

The novel coronavirus has infected 4.81million people globally and over 3,19,000 have lost the battle to this deadly virus. While most countries have been on lockdown and practising strict social distancing norms, the Dutch government has been handing out sex advice to its citizens!

When the lockdown was imposed in March, the RIVM (the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) said that couples living together should practice the 1.5-meter rule while having sex. “Sex with your regular partner is possible. After all, you are already very close and it is practically impossible to avoid each other physically. Don’t have sex with your partner if they have been isolated because of (suspected) coronavirus infection. Sex with yourself or with others at a distance is possible (think of telling erotic stories, masturbating together,” said the directive on their website

The Netherlands has been on lockdown since March 23, 2020, and since the country-wide cases have reduced substantially, the lockdown has been strategically lifted this week. The European country has begun a five-phase lockdown exit plan.

And now that the lockdown is being lifted in phases, the Dutch government has issued a directive to singles in the country to find themselves a “sex or a cuddle buddy” to cure lockdown blues. This new directive came in a few weeks after the government advised singles not to have sex unless they knew that their partner is free of the coronavirus.

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) now says that single people should come into “arrangements” with one another. How understanding, Indian parents I hope you’re reading…LOL.

“Discuss how best to do this together. For example, meet with the same person to have physical or sexual contact (for example, a cuddle buddy or ‘sex buddy’), provided you are free of illness. Make good arrangements with this person about how many other people you both see. The more people you see, the greater the chance of (spreading) the coronavirus,” said the RIVM guidance.

Since most of us live with our parents, guess we’ll all have to be self-sufficient for now 😉
