A Big Fat Shaadi, Some Deja Vu & 5.5 Lehengas: Decoding Neha Kakkar’s Wedding Wardrobe
So Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet Singh really did manage to pull off a big fat Indian wedding right in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. Quite gutsy, if you ask us. But that’s a discussion for another day because right now our social media feed is full of Neha Kakkar’s pics and videos in her bridal avatar and for today, let’s discuss just that.
‘Lehengas, lots of lehengas‘ is one way to describe Neha’s wedding wardrobe for the singer really did give a cold shoulder to a vast array of Indian wear styles that brides have at their easy disposal. Barring her yellow solid saree for the haldi ceremony(which sadly didn’t do much for us), Neha really didn’t wear anything but lehengas for all her wedding ceremonies, 5.5 of them to be precise. Now, what’s that you ask? Read on:
The Ivory Lehenga And Jewels For Days
The mirror work lehenga from the reception has to be our favourite outfit from the entire lot. From Priyanka Chopra to Deepika Padukone, carrying forward the legacy of Bollywood brides who chose white for their receptions, Neha has still managed to give us a post-wedding look that is simply breathtaking. The ivory on ivory handwork, the delicate mirror accents, the plunging neckline, and the scalloped everything here is to die for. However, it is her diamond-emerald jewellery that’s really lifting the attire and giving it a true statement touch. And yes, that contrast of ivory with red choora, never really fails to impress.
Eyeing Neha’s radiant glow? Here’s how you can get it too:
Red Lehenga: Deja Vu Much?
Okay, is it just us or do you also feel like Neha Kakkar took some serious inspiration from Priyanka Chopra’s bridal Sabyasachi here? Right from the all-red outfit to the gossamer veil, every single element in her bridal look has a deja vu factor attached to it. And while she might have opted for a Falguni Shane Peacock creation here, everything apart from the designer’s name has a very strong ‘PC in her bridal Sabyasachi’ vibe to it, the styling included. Just notice the statement kundan choker, gold kaleeras, and the dainty nath? Yup, you know what we mean!
Also, we have really, really strong opinions of Neha’s stone-encrusted eyeliner and feel that she could have done without it.
Pink Lehenga And The Saving Grace
Trust me, it really breaks my heart to say that even Neha’s blush, pink, Anand Karaj outfit reminds us of a certain Bollywood bride. Any guesses fam? Yup, of course, we talk about Anushka Sharma here. Interestingly, just like Anushka, even Neha’s pink lehenga has been designed by Sabyasachi. However, in Neha’s defense, Sabyasachi’s bridal designs do have a touch of uniformity about them overall and that’s why we are so easily reminded of Anushka.
However, the touch of inspiration aside, we kinda like this outfit. Oh and we also love how it has been styled. We are really digging the touch of dark metallics in her outfit’s hand embroidery that’s providing beautiful contrast to the hot pink floral details. Look closely and you will also observe a subtle touch of orange in the dupatta’s border. That said, the star of this look for us has to be that statement passa and how effortlessly the singer has managed to carry it. That’s an absolute win, right there!
The Statement Sangeet Outfit
We really felt that Neha Kakkar’s magenta sangeet lehenga was a run-of-the-mill choice with its gota patti embroidery and net dupatta. However, what piqued our interest is the outfit that she later slipped into for what looks like dancing purposes. Featuring a breezy pink skirt with no adornments apart from scattered Swarovski crystals, a white, knotted shirt, and a peek-a-boo blouse, this outfit really got us thinking. I mean here is an outfit in which you can literally dance the entire night while leaving the care to the devil and the troubles of carrying a heavy, cumbersome outfit along with it. Hey brides-to-be, hope you are taking notes!
But wait, it is a lehenga, it is a skirt set, maybe a co-ord set? After much deliberation, we have settled on the idea of calling it a half lehenga and we’ll settle with just that. How about that?
The Mehendi Lehenga & A Neat Win!
While we weren’t feeling it with Neha’s haldi wardrobe, we definitely have a thing for her customised mehendi lehenga. Done in woven satin, the ‘Cynara’ lehenga is actually available on Anita Dongre’s website and is priced at Rs 75000. However, it’s hard to guess the price of Neha’s outfit given that it features a customised choli.
Also, we really did love the polki and emerald choker by Anita Dongre Pinkcity and how well it complemented Neha’s solid choli.
So fam, which one of these 5.5 lehengas do you love the most?
