“Is The Honeymoon Phase Of Your Relationship Over?” and “Signs The Spark Has Gone From Your Relationship”… I am hooked to such articles; I read every write-up that talks about long-term relationships. The more I go through such articles, the more I have doubts about my relationship.
Rahul and I have been dating for four years now. Over the years, the number and the duration of our late night calls and chats has gone down drastically. “Has our love fizzled out?” The thought kept haunting me.
Well, I am still very much in love with Rahul, so does that mean he isn’t into me anymore? Is he continuing with this relationship for the heck of it? Such questions refused to leave my mind and I started analyzing everything he did or said. Of course, I didn’t talk to him about it, I was a little scared about his reaction.

All these doubts were put to rest during our vacation. During the term break, our group (including Rahul) went for a trip to Goa. On the second day there, we made an impromptu plan to go to the Dudhsagar waterfall, a three-hour drive from Goa. We had heard a lot about how beautiful the site was, and ever since I had seen it in Chennai Express I had been wanting to see the fall.
When we reached the checkpoint, we were told that the road to the fall was closed. We all were very disappointed, but just then a guide came to us and told us that he would take us to the waterfall. He said that he would take us there on a train and we could get back on the 6:30 p.m. goods train. It was worth a shot as we had travelled this far so there was no way we were going back without seeing the fall.
Luck, however, was not on our side that day – the trainmaster refused to let us get on the goods train. Now we were stranded in the middle of the jungle, some 11 kms away from the place where we had parked our car and it was almost dusk. We had no choice but to walk all the way back and as it grew darker we had nothing but the torch in our phones for light.
During all that time, Rahul didn’t leave my side. He held my hand as we walked through that difficult terrain. There were times when I was too frustrated and tired, but he kept talking to me, encouraging me and assuring me that everything was going to be okay. In those three hours, he made me realize why I was madly in love with him.

It was stupid of me to doubt his love. On that day I realized that he may not text me often, speak to me on the phone all the time or show his affection overtly, but that did not mean that he did not love me. Those three hours will be etched in my heart forever, just like he is.
