The post-2010s were filled with pictures of people pouting online. It was a major posing trend, and everyone from tiny kids to major celebrities were seen sharing pictures of themselves pouting. You can probably tell where this is going; I was one of those people who jumped on the bandwagon. Like everyone else, wearing bright lipstick and spending a good amount of time clicking selfies to show off the shade by pouting was a legitimate activity for me. It was a pop-culture moment for so many women between the years 2012-2018. Which is why Karan Johar launching a lipstick line called Pout feels like such a celebratory moment, because yes, bring the pouting era back.

In 2012, Pantone had announced the colour of the year, Tangerine Tango. Which probably added to the popularity of the pout pose as well. The shade dominated the makeup industry to such a large extent, that tangerine and orange lipsticks were everywhere. Not to mention, ‘Selfie‘ was named Oxford word of the year, in 2013. Now, combine the burst of tangerine-coloured lipsticks in the market with selfies being the most popular kind of images on social media, what do you get? A whole lotta people pouting for their selfies, showing off the immediate surge of confidence they got from wearing those bold shades of lipsticks.

So, of course, I was teased for pouting my heart out in selfies. Many batchmates pulled my leg about always turning to the pose for pictures, so much so, I still have comments regarding this on older pictures. I might have been embarrassed by all of the jokes for a moment, but ended up repeating the signature style of posing throughout college. And why shouldn’t I have? It was one of the most popular styles of clicking pictures at the time, was it not?

Cut to the present day, I am so, so glad that Karan Johar has come out with a line of lipsticks called Pout! MyGlamm Pout by Karan Johar has finally been unveiled and its lip-shades are scrumptious. They’re also a huge motivation for me to start pouting in my pictures again. Because I miss doing it, darn it!

So expect to find shades such as Wine N’ Pout (Berry Red), Poutitude (Fuschia), Pout It Out (Mauve Pink) and True Pout (Earthy Pink) in MyGlamm Pout by Karan Johar’s collection. The formula for each of these is free of alcohol, parabens, pthalate, SLS & gluten. Owing to ingredients such as menthol extract, ginger oil extract & capsicum frutescens fruit extract, and Macadamia seed oil; One of Pout lipsticks’ greatest strengths is its lip-plumping, volumizing and moisturising qualities. These lip products will leave you with a petal glow finish and a plumping effect. And those of you who love K-beauty, we’re sure you’ll be thrilled to know that this entire line has been created in Korea!

It’s a chance for us to revive the pout folks, let’s not miss out on it. For the past couple of years, all I’ve seen trending are lipglosses, but I am a true blue-blooded lipstick lover, which is why I’m thrilled at the sight of Mr. Johar launching Pout.

So, #WhenInDoubtPout. Because you deserve the fun and happiness of it.
