Is it just me, or is everyone still buzzing about the 2023 Met Gala, popularly known as the “Super Bowl of Fashion?” While we witnessed some of the greatest outfits in fashion history, the flawless accessorising could not go unnoticed. Hollywood’s elite wore some of the world’s most spectacular and unusual jewellery, and the prices will make your head spin!
Let’s take a look at these five celebrities whose jewellery probably cost just as much as the entire Met Gala set:
Rihanna
After donning $3.2 million in jewels during her Super Bowl performance earlier this year, Rihanna’s Met Gala look had high expectations. The actress sported gems worth $25 million (about Rs 200 crores). She wore a Bulgari High Jewellery platinum necklace with 561 diamonds, Belperron earrings, an antique Belperron necklace, and a modern version of a Verdura Maltese cross cuff initially designed for Chanel.
Priyanka Chopra
Our very own desi girl made headlines when she came wearing Bulgari’s spectacular High Jewellery necklace, which featured the Bulgari Laguna Blu Diamond, which was formerly owned by a private collector and set into a ring. The 11.16-carat blue diamond is the largest Bulgari blue diamond available for purchase. The necklace alone is worth $25 million (almost 200 crores)! And guess what? The beauty, which was custom-made for the occasion, will be auctioned off at Sotheby’s. Iconic!
Dua Lipa
While PeeCee wore the most expensive necklace of the evening, it was Dua Lipa who made history by wearing one containing the “Legendary” Tiffany diamond. The 106-carat white diamond made its maiden red carpet appearance at the Met Gala, making the singer the first celebrity to wear the marvel that is worth $10 million (over Rs 80 crores). The diamond’s near-identical cushion cut pays homage to the shape of the renowned yellow Tiffany diamond.
Anne Hathaway
Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway looked like a princess IRL as she too wore an incredibly pricey necklace. The custom-made Bulgari High Jewellery Monete necklace was crafted in yellow gold with a silver coin. The beauty is estimated to be worth around $350,000, which is almost Rs 3 crores. The necklace is made with ancient Roman coins and is inspired by the gold Chanel coin accessories that were particularly popular in the late 1980s.
Nicola Peltz
While most of these celebrity necklaces are sourced from brands exclusively for the event, actress Nicola Peltz wore her own jewellery! She wore a 95-carat diamond necklace along with 20-carat diamond earrings. While the diamond necklace belongs to her mom, the earrings are the ones that Nicola wore at her own wedding to Brooklyn Beckham! Incredible, right?
The 2023 Met Gala was definitely one night to remember, filled with glitz, glamm, and certainly a whole lot of shimmer!
