From Cetaphil To CeraVe, Fool-Proof Products To Add To Your Man’s Routine

All boyfriends have a skin-deep mistrust of skincare and I don’t really get why. They often view our totally necessary multi-step routines with bafflement. A few men I know use maybe two products on their faces, which is more than I can say for the rest of the male population.

My own partner, for example, clings to his Nivea cold cream with the fervour of a shipwreck survivor to a life raft. No matter the climate or the cries for help his skin sends out, he remains undeterred.

Despite my efforts to introduce him to the wonders of a skincare routine, his loyalty to drugstore finds remains unshaken. It’s a tale as old as time, so in a blend of desperation and curiosity, I turned to the internet to gather intel on the skincare products that people’s partners not only use but swear by. And guess what? Through a little trickery, anything is possible.

A Few Skincare Products So Simple, They’re Good Enough For Your Man

Replace the Lifebuoy soap on his bathroom shelf with a Cetaphil face wash and it’ll take a while but he might love it more than you! Honestly, this face wash is a godsend. “

Swap his generic 3-in-1 shampoo-conditioner-body wash with a great tea tree shampoo. Next stop, conditioner?

Let his hair gel mysteriously be replaced with a curl-enhancing cream. I’m sure he’ll become the unofficial ambassador for the curly method, lecturing me you ‘crunch scrunching.’

Dare him to use your hyaluronic acid under his eyes.

“I finally got my husband to at least wash his face in shower with the CeraVe Cleanser but if he doesn’t shower that night he doesn’t wash his face. He also will make me put moisturiser on his dry flaky spots if I say anything about them lol and makes a weird face as I rub it in.” – SquirrelQueen1990, Reddit

Swap his prehistoric body cream for a fast-absorbing, non-greasy formula. He’ll still think it’s his old brand, just ‘improved.’

“He would look sometimes at me putting on my skincare at night, and I asked if he wanted to try some. He said sure, but I had to do it for him. Boys, they just want to be pampered! So I put a hydrating and a moisturising cream on him and he loved it. Did that for him a couple of times, until he asked me if I could help him pick out some products at the store.” – keepmedreaming, Reddit

Phased out his Clean & Clear drying acne wash with a gentle exfoliating cleanser from the Minimalist.

“My fiancée started off all curious checking out my serums and asking me about my routine. I then asked him if he wanted to join me on a spa night and he also said yeah sure but you have to do it for me (pampering is life for this one). We now do spa nights like once a week or so and his skin is glowing! Haha.” – JLaws23, Reddit

“My boyfriend said yesterday that he wanted to try washing his face! Progress!” – acromantulas, Reddit

In the grand scheme of things, it turns out that the path to a man’s heart (or at least, to his skincare routine) may very well be paved with a bit of cunning, a dash of persistence, and a whole lot of love. Who would have thought that a few sneaky swaps and the promise of pampering could unveil a world where men too marvel at the wonders of hyaluronic acid and the magic of moisturisation?
