Mira Rajput Is All Praises For Hubby Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh: So Proud Of You Baby

Shahid Kapoor’s much-awaited film Kabir Singh released today. The film also stars Kiara Advani and has been making news every since the promo came out (for the good and the bad). In the film, Shahid plays the role of a surgeon with anger management issues, who is madly in love with Preeti (played by Kiara Advani). They break up and thus starts Kabir’s decline. He dives headfirst into alcohol and drugs and battles self-pity and rage.

Helmed by Sandeep Vanga, Kabir Singh is the official remake of superhit Telugu film, Arjun Reddy.

When the trailer first launched, Shahid Kapoor was criticised for portraying toxic masculinity on screen, but he defended the movie. In fact, during numerous interviews he did to promote the movie, he talked about a variety of things, including his exes and his sex life with wife Mira Rajput.

Last evening, team Kabir Singh hosted a special screening for fellow B-town celebs ahead of the movie release. Janhvi Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Aparshakti Khurana, Nora Fatehi, Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia, among many others, attended the screening. 

Shahid’s family members including wife Mira Kapoor, brother Ishaan Khatter, father Pankaj Kapoor and sister Sanah Kapoor were also present at the event.

After the screening, the reviews started pouring in and wife Mira loved Shahid’s performance in the movie. In fact, after watching it, she shared a still from the film with a beautiful caption praising his performance. She wrote, “Aa zamane aazmaale rooth ta nahi, Faaslon se hausla ye toot’ta nahi. So proud of you baby. It’s your time to shine.”

Director Karan Johar seems to have loved the film too. He, too, shared a still from the film and his thoughts about the film. KJo wrote, “KABIR SINGH is about manic, relentless and reckless love and the experience of viewing the film is exactly the same! It’s relentless in its narrative leaves you reckless in emotion and you find yourself Manicly rooting for Kabir’s unabashed love for Preeti! This modern Ode to Devdas leaves you spellbound! To prepare for the role, Shahid worked really hard on his appearance; he gained eight kgs at first and later lost 14 kgs. The actor said, “It’s always character before your personal life. The team decided to first shoot the portions that saw me out of shape. The character goes through an emotional phase; he is self-destructive and doesn’t care about how he looks. Actors are used to [looking] their best, at all times. But, here, I had to look as disinterested as I could about the way I appeared. Hence, we took the decision to grow the hair and beard. They took about two-and-a-half months to grow out, and during this phase, I worked with my trainer Samir Jaura on drafting a plan and achieving the [hefty] look. If you sit down and make a plan, there’s a smart way of (gaining weight).”

Also, in a conversation with a media portal, Shahid spoke about how he smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day for the role. He also said that he took a two-hour bath to get rid of the smell completely, before going back home to his children.
