Let me begin with telling you how brave I think Mira Rajput is. She married Shahid Kapoor, an actor almost 13 years elder to her when she was only 21. She embraced motherhood at 23 and gave birth to her second child at 25. She knew what she was getting into and looks like she’s doing great. Clearly, she’s a strong woman and she’s getting to know more and more about how showbiz works. After all, life is not all rosy if you marry a Bollywood celebrity. There are perks and perils of being in the tinseltown trade.
The star wife is no stranger to trolls. She has been mercilessly attacked by netizens for doing anything. From being called out for colouring her daughter Misha’s hair to endorsing an anti-ageing cream at the age of 23, Mira has been a soft target since she came into the limelight.
Remember the time Mira made a strong statement about working mothers at an event? She had said, “I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work. Why did I have her? She is not a puppy, you know. I want to be there for her as a mother, seeing her grow up has, cannot be quantified.”
Some saw this as a subtle dig at Shahid’s ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor Khan. Mira was criticised for her comparing kids to puppies and looks like the trolls aren’t willing to forgive and forget anytime soon.
Recently, she was snapped with hubby Shahid on the way to the gym.
Trolls attacked Mira. Here’s what they commented on the picture.
In an interaction with a leading daily, hubby Shahid had spoken about Mira being subjected to negativity from haters online. The actor said, “First of all, there is a generational gap between Mira and me. We are 13 years apart, so we come from slightly different generations. So, the generation I come from isn’t so affected by public opinion. That’s weird because I am an actor but it doesn’t affect me because it is not the end of the world for me. But for her, it was completely new. She got a lot of attention which she was initially very uncomfortable about. So she has learnt to get better at it. Initially, she used to be like ‘why so many people are saying all this’. I spoke to her and told her that it comes with the territory.”
Accepting that being in the limelight will have its disadvantages, Mira had opened up about being trolled, “The internet is one platform that is accessible to everyone. People can say what they feel and it gives everyone the right to express themselves the way they want and to what extent they feel like. So, there will be opinions. It’s not that everyone is going to love you. It’s not something new for me. Nowadays, people receive backlash for whatever they do or say. It is the way the internet is. At some level, it is a bit sad.”
Recently, Sameera Reddy also spoke about trolls body-shaming her and gave a befitting reply to haters. Bollywood stars regularly face criticism on social media and more and more have started talking about it openly.
