When Mira Kapoor dishes out advice, we’re all ears. The mother of two is a huge beauty enthusiast and always has something cool up her sleeve – from her ghar ke nuskhe to keep skin healthy, self-love rituals, or remedies for hair fall. And the best part? They all seem to work wonders, trust us!
So we took notes when Mira talked about an unusual practice she follows to unwind after a tiring day. Because who doesn’t need some extra TLC?
How Mira Kapoor Pampers Herself After A Long Day
Some of us may head straight to bed without taking our makeup off (guilty), while others prefer to unwind with green tea. Mira, on the other hand, opts for a massage! To take the day off, the star wife massages the soles of her feet with ghee – an ingredient she swears by for almost everything.
Mira is a huge fan of Ayurveda and this ritual stems from there. A foot massage with ghee helps reduce gas and bloating. In Ayurvedic terms, it allows for settling vata, aka elements of air. Foot massages also reduce acidity, aid fat loss and improve the sleep cycle.
Mira says that this is her favourite practice when she goes to bed late and needs to wake up early to catch a flight or head to work. Massaging her feet with ghee and then wearing thick socks makes her feel like she’s rested well, even if she’s been in bed for three hours. “You’ll thank me after you’ve slept like a baby. I like to do it when I know I need to be up early to catch a flight or when I’m sleeping late,” she said in an Instagram post.
Not Only Ghee, Here’s Another Other Unusual Thing People Apply On The Feet
Ghee might seem like a strange ingredient for the uninitiated, but you know what’s stranger? Onions! First the hair and now the feet—are they that powerful?
Putting onions in socks is a great remedy for the flu. According to folklore, placing onions on the feet allows sulphuric compounds to enter the body and kill bacteria while purifying the blood at the same time. While there is no experimental evidence of this, it’s an ancient remedy that’s still followed. And putting onions on your feet doesn’t hurt the body in any way, so there is really no harm in trying it out.
But It’s Not Just Onions…
In 2023, a brand new health trend went viral on TikTok. It involved putting potato slices in socks, with claims that the potatoes would help clear toxins and eliminate viruses and the flu from the body.
Unfortunately, just like onions, there is no proof that placing potatoes on your feet will help your immune system. Sure, drinking potato juice is helpful, but placing it on your feet? Guess we’ll just have to try it out!
