The Met Gala has concluded—carpets have unraveled, cameras have been tucked away, and celebrities are reminiscing. But the night has left in its trail-blazing wake a succession of statement-making above-the-neck looks complete with over-the-top manicures—while some fashioned their ensembles with a cascade of waist-grazing tendrils, some drowned their lids in accents of purple, and others sashayed down the carpet clad in pieces right out of history.
There’s been much conversation about ruby-red catsuits, floor-grazing trains, and flute-playing celebrities. But can we spotlight some beauty looks as well? Because, wow!
7 Best Met Gala Beauty Looks
Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid was dripping in black. Clad in an all-black ensemble, the model contrasted her Dominatrix alter-ego with rose-stained cheekbones, and jet-black flicks on the eyes The American model married her aesthetic with a coiffed half-updo, curtain bangs, and micro-braids grazing the forehead.
Normani
Normani’s aesthetic was transformative. She worked for it. The singer accented her rose-flushed cheeks with smatterings of an electric-hued blue that drenched her upper-lids, plunged down to the under-eye, and levitated to the inner-corners dramatically. She punctuated the look with gloss-studded lips, brushed-out brows, and a side-swept ‘do complemented by a stunning headpiece.
Blake Lively
The Gossip Girl star descended upon the Met prepared—but this prepared? Blake Lively’s presence was conspicuous. While the actress’ ensemble headlined the night, she ornamented her side-swept, golden-hued tresses with a tiara securing a hidden-away braid; and emulated a bronzed-babe aesthetic with a wash of rose-gold and copper on the lids, cheek-sculpting contour, and stains of pink on the lips.
Kaia Gerber
Kaia Gerber disposed off her proclivity to sport poker-straight hair on the night of the Met, and strode across the carpet in all of her fairy-like glory with an all-consuming cascade of curls trailing behind her. It’s almost like this was her iteration of a train—one unattached to a dress. She punctuated her ‘do with rhinestone-embellished barrettes, and juxtaposed the drama of her tresses with the softest dabs of colour on the lips, cheeks, and lids.
Natasha Poonawalla
Natasha Poonawalla broke the internet yesterday. She graced the steps of the Met in a Sabyasachi sari complete with a Schiaparelli metal-bustier. The businesswoman served in all of her gold-studded, floor-sweeping glory, and ate thanks to her statement-making makeup glamourised by an outlandish iteration of a manicure. While her nails were embellished with pearls, malachite, metal, and turquoise, her makeup was an aggressive nod to drama, and displayed the boldest flicks of black framed by metallic-hued lids, contoured cheekbones, and glitter-packed highlighter.
Kendall Jenner
You know this one’s going down as one of the most experimental in Kendall’s look-book. While the rest of her aesthetic was subdued, her eyebrows underwent a radical transformation on D-day. It’s not that they were dramatic—it’s that they descended upon the forehead inconspicuously.
Simone Ashley
Simone Ashley understood the assignment. She gilded from every angle. The Bridgerton actress didn’t just do justice to the theme in terms of her ensemble. While she displayed a set of throat-cutting flicks on the lids, and a flush of rose drowning her cheeks, her low-hanging, sleek, side-swept ponytail cemented this as one of the best looks of the Met.
