Melisa Raouf, a 20-year-old Miss England finalist, became the first bare-faced beauty pageant competitor to compete without makeup in the pageant’s 94-year history. This is undoubtedly a big day for every girl because this 20-year-old finalist shows us how to embrace flaws and be happy in your own skin. Damn, we are all experiencing goosebumps right now!

Here’s How Melisa Raouf Wowed Us By Ditching Makeup & Going All Bare!

When Melisa Raouf, 20, from Battersea in London participated in the competition’s semi-finals earlier this month. The judges were astounded by her unfiltered beauty. She claimed that she made her decision to walk the ramp bare-faced in the hopes of encouraging other women to embrace their own natural beauty.

The 20-year-old Miss England contestant took to Instagram to proudly promote that real beauty lies in simplicity. She also told The Independent that many girls wear makeup because they feel pressured by societal norms and social media. “I never felt I met beauty standards. I have recently accepted that I am beautiful in my own skin and that’s why I decided to compete with no makeup,” she told the news portal.

Although the competition’s makeup-free modelling round was introduced in the past, the event’s organisers claim that this is the first time that someone has chosen to compete without makeup. “It was a daunting but amazing experience,” stated the Miss England semi-finalist, who plans on completely ditching makeup for the finals.

She humbly proceeded, “Our flaws make us who we are and that is what makes every individual unique in their own skin. I’ll be honest; whether I’m wearing makeup or not, I still feel confident about myself. This is who I am, I’m not afraid to share who I am. I wanted to showcase who Melisa truly is.”

Angie Beasley, who in 2019 introduced the makeup-free round to the competition, offered the following response to Raouf’s decision: “I wish Melisa the best of luck in Miss England 2022. I’m all for wearing makeup to accentuate your natural beauty, but youngsters shouldn’t wear it so thick that it resembles a mask.”
