Throwing Shade! Masaba Gupta Gets Real About Her Bollywood Debut & We Love Her Sass

In just a few days, our screens will once again be blessed with Masaba Gupta’s shenanigans in Masaba Masaba Season 2. Over the last couple of years, the fashion designer has made quite an impression on the audiences with her acting chops—and left us wondering if Bollywood is on the cards for her? 

Recently, Masaba cleared the air on her possible Bollywood debut and she had a lot to say! The Modern Love Mumbai star shared, ” I have grown up seeing a certain style of acting in Hindi cinema, which is typically an exaggerated form. So, I didn’t know that there is an audience for the subtle [performance] that I do. With OTT, a new style of acting is being appreciated. So, I feel validated. But I want to play a lot more with dialect and characters.”

“I have a full life being an entrepreneur. Until it absolutely fulfils me as an actor, I won’t do [a film]. To be honest, Bollywood will do what it does—it will still cast the 10 people that they always have been casting. So, I hope to do a lot more work on OTT,” added Masaba.

TBH, we totally understand where Masaba is coming from! Over the years, Bollywood has turned into an exclusive club that has limited itself to the same few stars. Meanwhile, OTT platforms provide a lot of creative freedom to filmmakers and perhaps that’s why more people are picking this route. It is quite hard for a new face to make their space in the industry but we are sure with two successful shows in her kitty, Masaba can be the next big thing in tinsel town. 

NGL, we would love to see Masaba in an OTT Bollywood drama but it appears we’ll have to wait for a while for this to happen. Meanwhile, we are now counting the days for Masaba Masaba Season 2’s drop for our binge sesh.
