The ace couturier is about to mark his directorial debut with the biopic of one of the most legendary Bollywood actresses! Here’s everything you need to know about it:

The Collab We Didn’t See Coming!

While Manish Malhotra has been the reigning king of all things fashion in Bollywood for over two decades now, he is all set to foray into filmmaking with the biopic of late actress, Meena Kumari. And if reports are to go by, Adipurush actress Kriti Sanon will be playing the lead in the film.

A lil birdie also tells us that the exciting project is in the scripting stage. Reportedly, it has been Manish’s long-cherished dream to recreate the magic of Meena Kumari. With his much-anticipated directorial debut, he aims to honour the legacy of the iconic actress and portray her inspiring journey as an actor.

Back in the day, Hansal Mehta was also rumoured to be helming a biopic of Meena Kumari. However, the project never saw the light of the day. Reportedly, T-Series will be backing up this project with Kriti Sanon and Manish Malhotra this time.

All About Meena Kumari’s Legacy!

Meena Kumari started her film career in 1939 with Leatherface as a child artist. For around six years, Baby Meena (as she was called in her later films), continued to appear as a child artist in a string of films before making her big debut with Bachchon Ka Khel as Meena Kumari. However, it was the film Baiju Bawra (1952) that turned her into an overnight star. She continued to give blockbuster hits like Parineeta,  Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Aarti, Main Chup Rahungi, Dil Ek Mandir, and Kaajal.
