Age No Bar: Makeup Tips For Mature Skin That Will Give You An Instant Face Lift

If you have ageing skin or you have loved ones who are older and want to master wearing makeup, this read is for you. Mature skin displays signs of ageing but it doesn’t take away from the beauty of the person. Ageing gracefully is one of the best beauty mantras of all time and therefore those with mature skin shouldn’t feel like they have grown out of wearing makeup or that their days of experimenting with their looks are over.

Being a daughter and granddaughter to beautiful women myself, I have noticed that when makeup is done right on mature skin, the person wearing the makeup instantly regains their confidence. It’s just smarter application techniques and the right makeup products that make all the difference. If you want to enjoy wearing makeup and experiment with the hottest trends, irrespective of your age, these mature skin makeup tips are what you should make note of ASAP!

Mature Skin Makeup Tips To Follow For A Gorgeous Glow

Glowy Bases Only

Ageing skin needs only one type of makeup base and that’s a glowing one. Whether you have oily skin or adult acne, moving over to super matte foundation formulas is in your best interest. Matte base makeup can make wrinkles and fine lines more noticeable. The max you can do is use a mattifying concealer only on pimples if there are any and setting powders after applying your base. For mature skin, prepping with an illuminating makeup primer and then opting for a dewy, glow-boosting foundation is the best choice. Concealers that contain anti-ageing skincare ingredients should be applied to under-eye areas instead of full-coverage matte ones.

Concealer To Lift

Aside from concealing blemishes and dark circles, your concealer can make your visage look more lifted and youthful when applied strategically. Draw a line extending from the outer corners of your eyes straight up to your hairline. Repeat the same upward strokes beginning from beneath your cheekbones to the hairline and on your chin all across your jawline. Blend that in and you will notice your face looks snatched with a reduced appearance of sagging skin.

Contour To Define

Droopy eyelids and sagging skin are common signs of ageing on mature skin. And it can be helped with the right contour methods. Instead of trying to contour your face to make it look slimmer, use it to define your features and reduce the appearance of sagging skin. Skip contouring your cheekbones and instead use contour on your lids and nose. Apply a contour stick on the crease of your lids or above the crease of your lids to carve out your eye shape. Apply two lines on the sides of your nose and a circle around the tip of your nose and blend to define your nose shape.

Bronzer For Fullness

Bronzers can not only make you look sun-kissed, but they can also add volume to your visage and make your cheekbones pop. Apply a shimmer-infused silky bronzer directly on your cheekbones before applying blush and highlighter. Then layer on a cream blush over the bronzer and place the highlighter at top of your cheekbones, extending it to the outer corners of your eyes and on your temples. You will be amazed by how gorgeous this hack is to perk up your cheekbones.

Brow Mascaras Instead Of Pencils

It’s okay to grow out your greys; the salt and pepper look is really stunning and total flex! But while your mane can flaunt greys in all their glory, greying eyebrows aren’t exactly as glamorous. Well-groomed brows can take years off your face and therefore keeping them a brown or black hue without specs of grey is not a bad idea. But to cover up grey brow hair, a brow pencil won’t cut it. You will need to use tinted brow mascara instead to cover up greys on your eyebrows, while a brow pencil can play a supporting role in adding fullness or creating different brow shapes.

Cream Blushes FTW

Powder blushes can end up looking patchy on mature skin. Opt for cream blushes as they are all about keeping your cheeks hydrated. They also blend beautifully and do not settle into fine lines. You can always layer a cream blush with a powder blush if you desire, but cream blushes by themselves will give your cheeks volume and make you look more youthful.

Balancing Bold Lips & Exaggerated Eyes

Not to say that you cannot wear bold makeup, it’s just that you need to balance it out. If you are wearing a smokey eye makeup look with shimmer or a vibrant eye makeup look with pop colours, wearing a nude glossy or matte lip will tie the look together. When you wear a bold lip colour like a wine shade or a red, simply blending a sheer shimmer or metallic eyeshadow on your lids with mascara is all you need to slay.

Don’t ignore these mature skin makeup tips because they are about to awaken your love for wearing makeup all over again.
