Cannes 2018 introduced us to a whole new side of our favourite starlets. While Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are seasoned attendees, one new starlet caught our eye in the most unique way. Debuting her red carpet style at the prestigious film festival, Mahira Khan bought her natural charm and overly simplified yet incredibly stylish looks to the forefront.
Mahira Khan Kicking Off Cannes In Élan Kimono And Separates
While Bollywood’s leading ladies were busy serving up extravagant looks that you can’t dare look directly at, Mahira kept her red carpet looks minimally fashionable. While L’oreal embassadors like Aishwarya and Deepika went all out on the carpet with their gowns, Mahira went for a classic old Hollywood feel with her Alberta Ferretti gown.
Just as Sonam paid an ode to India with her first outing on the carpet being a Ralph & Russo pristine white cropped blouse and lehenga skirt, Mahira brought attention to the saree with a light pink Menahel and Mehreen drape and a beaded spaghetti blouse.
Showy gowns and lehengas aside, our starlets did get some downtime sporting a few basic looks as L’oreal ambassadors. Just when we thought Deepika and Sonam can’t get any basic, Mahira stepped out in a white top and high waisted wide jeans that cemented her presence in the whole ‘cool girl’ gang at the Cannes.
The hugely popular Pakistani actress did not stop her ‘easy on the eyes’ fashion exploits these! Constantly turning up in chic outfits that make her the ultimate girl next door, Mahira’s looks at Cannes is something us mere mortals can aspire to recreate as well. And we absolutely commend her for that!

She even had the nerves to get decked up in an Ermanno Scervino pantsuit and look effortless like it’s no big deal! When was the last time you put on a pantsuit and looked like a literal rockstar while basking in the sun without a care in the world?
Not that we want to, but if we had to, pick a favourite among Mahira’s Cannes looks, it has to the one time she chose to go edgy in a Nicolas Jebran fitted gown. Looking like a character out of a slick sci-fi flick, Mahira’s massive faux sleeve can stop all the haters in their path!
Let us take a bow to the unlikely hero of relatable fashion at Cannes, Mahira’s style lesson on how to look like an absolute 10 without having to try too much will be grained in our minds for a long time!
