Bare It All: Lisa Ray’s ‘Bold’ Picture Is Getting The Internet’s Attention & Appreciation
At a time when all our pictures pass through multiple filters and stringent photo editing apps before they go on social media, actress and cancer activist Lisa Ray is shattering age-old notions around beauty. Lisa is proving that there’s no beauty like that of the raw and unadulterated.
The 47-year-old shared a selfie on Instagram, wherein she is wearing no makeup and yet she looks drop-dead gorgeous. Lisa is seen proudly flaunting her freckles and wrinkles, and we are totally in awe of her. Check out the picture below:
How stunning does she look here?!
Encouraging women to find perfection in their flaws, Lisa wrote, “That’s me at 47, free and unfiltered. Do we have the courage to be seen as we are? I did not when I was younger. Not everyone will recognize your worth, but love your skin and the stories it tells, your experiences, your essence- know your worth woman!- and the world will reflect back your radiance. (And if it doesn’t, fuck it. You’re lovable and perfect regardless). Thanks @binapunjani for clearing the way for more of me and less hair to hide behind 🙏🏼
#unfilterme
Soon after, the internet started appreciating the actress for her unedited pictures and some even posted their own pictures using the same hashtag, #unfilterme. Her co-stars were also all praise for Lisa.
Here’s What They Had To Say
Well, this is not the first time that a celebrity has come out and shared a no-filter picture on social media. Earlier, some of the most fashionable names in Bollywood including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma also ditched makeup and filters and faced the camera with confidence.
Alia Bhatt looks like sunshine in this recent no-makeup selfie.
Anushka Sharma’s bare-faced holiday picture with hubby Virat Kohli.
Always beautiful. With or without makeup.
Jacqueline Fernandez’s early morning no-makeup selfie. Just for that slight coverage on the lips a tinted lip balm is enough.
Coming back to Lisa, the actress has encouraged body positivity shattering all the myths surrounding the idea of a “perfect body” even in the past. In a throwback picture, that she shared on Instagram, she wrote, “Striking a pose. I write about the era of polaroids and cigarettes in @closetothebone.book and here’s an image that’s just a bit painful. An obsession with bony shoulders and collarbones morphed into a serious eating disorder that took years to heal. Shattering perceptions and unmasking pretty pictures to reveal what lies beneath informs the narrative of my writing debut.”
We hope Lisa’s bold move will encourage more women to embrace their bodies as it is and become more confident in their skin!
