The days that we are currently living are one of the most exciting ones, speaking strictly from a fashion point of view. The much-awaited Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 has just started in Mumbai and things couldn’t get any more glamorous. Not only is the ramp lit with futuristic styles but things off-the-stage look equally promising, especially now when the festive season is in the offing.
Yesterday, Bollywood’s favourite fashion designer and couturier, Manish Malhotra, opened the LFW with his newest festive collection called ‘Maahrumysha’. The maestro displayed Indian wear couture for both women and men and they’re all kinds of #Goals. So much that we can’t wait for Diwali to come, or a wedding to wear these to.
“Maahrumysha is the celebration of creativity and craftsmanship that depicts a pure reflection of the women of today,” wrote Manish on Instagram describing the collection, and chose his favourite muse – Katrina Kaif – to be the face of it.
She looks stunning, doesn’t she?
The collection, which means resplendent beauty, is all about heavy embroidery, flared silhouettes, vibrant colours, a lot of goldwork and our most favourite – extremely deep necklines. When fashion gives you the freedom to flaunt your body your way, there’s nothing better than that.
We saw a lot of celebrities last night exercising this freedom in beautiful outfits. From sarees, lehengas, to even jumpsuits, there is a deep neck blouse design inspiration for all along with how to style them. Here are the looks we loved:
Deep Neck Blouse Designs Courtesy Bollywood
Katrina Kaif
As the showstopper, Katrina wore a black velvet lehenga. With heavy gold embroidery all over the skirt and a solid bralette-style blouse with attached slim dupatta, the attire looks out of the world. Manish managed to put ruffles on velvet and that for us is a celebration.
Katrina styled her cleavage-bearing neckline with a statement long layered necklace. What an excellent way to sport a deep neckline without looking scandalous! When opting for such necklaces, keep your other accessories minimum to avoid going over the top. Take cues from Kat here and trust a nice pair of studs to complete the look.
Khushi Kapoor
The bralette-style blouse design made another appearance last night. Our favourite fashionista among celebrity kids, Khushi Kapoor’s look has every millennial’s approval and that is something we can bet on. She wore a greyish-green silk skirt and blouse set by Manish Malhotra, of course. This monotone look of hers contained an asymmetrically tiered skirt and matching pumps in a satin finish. We are definitely getting this stitched this season!
Khushi styled her revealing neckline with a statement choker set and trusted only a set of three gold-toned bangles to complete the look.
Daisy Shah
Daisy’s style is Daisy’s style, none of our style. But it can be yours in an effortless way. The Race 3 actress wore a gorgeous beige saree with a metallic green border and teamed it with a gold sequinned strappy blouse. We love the balance she has maintained with her choice of colours and patterns here. It looks perfect for a Diwali party and even a friend’s cocktail.
With sarees, it is easier to pull-off deep necklines since the pallu helps decide how much you want to show and how much you want to cover. We love how Daisy didn’t accessorise her saree with a lot of jewellery but an elegant pair of studs. Honestly, that’s all she needed with her on-point smokey eye makeup.
Pooja Hegde
Pooja Hegde OD-ed on pink–solid, embellished, sequinned, scaled with this Manish Malhotra skirt and blouse set. She wore her halter neck blouse made of silk with a heavy lehenga skirt, showing us how to nail a sangeet ceremony in style.
Similar to Daisy’s approach, the Mohenjo Daro actress teamed her blouse with a pair of glass-like drop earrings and, well, that was about it. Since there was already so much bling in her outfit, her simple choice of accessories emerged victorious among her fans. That’s a lesson to keep in mind, ladies.
Dia Mirza
The former Miss India Asia Pacific (2000), Dia Mirza attended the gala night in a taupe coloured saree but styled it as we have never done before. Instead of taking the saree’s pallu over the blouse as is done traditionally, Dia wore her blouse over the saree flaunting the statement-making ruffled neckline.
This clever way of saree draping didn’t call for any necklaces as the pallu took care of it without compromising with the blouse design. Doesn’t this hack sound perfect for a family function? You can accessorise the simple yet anything but basic look with a pair of earrings like Dia.
Amrita Arora
Amrita Arora went the unusual way for Manish’s big night by wearing a jumpsuit to the opening night. TBH, I didn’t quite like the outfit because I think it’s a bit much with the tulle cuffs, loose shoulder panels, the camouflaging belt and overall bling, but brownie points for the bold effort.
We have included this look to explain what not to do when wearing plunging necklines. For starters, don’t ignore accessories. But since Amrita’s outfit is already so shimmering, the actress could have at least kept her hair open. Do you agree?
