Remember when Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar “the flag bearer of nepotism”? Yea, no one is forgetting that anytime soon! Since Kangana’s remark, people have been closely watching KJo. They have been following his every move and calling him out whenever he supports a nepo baby.
Just recently, Priyanka Chopra opened a can of worms by speaking about how she was cornered in the industry. People claimed that she was talking about Karan. Allegedly, he ganged up against the actress after rumours of her affair with Shah Rukh Khan started doing rounds. While there is no proof to support these claims, I just stumbled on a video where the filmmaker has openly talked about sabotaging Anushka Sharma’s career. Read on for details:
When Karan Said He Wanted To ‘Murder’ Anushka’s Career!
Back in 2016, Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai went to promote Ae Dil Hai Mushkil at the 18th MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. During an interaction with Rajeev Masand, Karan made a shocking revelation about how he once tried to sabotage Anushka’s career by telling Aditya Chopra to replace her with Sonam Kapoor for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi!
“I totally wanted to, completely murder Anushka Sharma’s career. Because when Aditya Chopra showed me her image, I was like, ‘no, no, mad or what, you signing her, you crazy! There is no need for you to sign this Anushka Sharma’. There was another lead actress at that time who I wanted Adi to sign and I was totally behind the scene sabotaging her completely. The movie also I was reluctantly watching Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” said the filmmaker. However, Anushka made him change his mind. He added, “But when I saw Band Baaja Baaraat, I called her and I felt like I owed her an apology and a compliment. Apology because I felt so embarrassed that I would have actually ruined the graph of an exceptional talent and secondly, a compliment because I thought she was amazing.”
It takes guts to do what KJo was trying with Anushka’s career and then admit it openly. So, I will give him this one. Watch the video here:
That said, Anushka Sharma’s laugh here looks as real as my hair colour. Just saying!
