Do you remember that one kid who always had a Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham quote ready for every occasion? Yup, that was me. I would wake up and strut down the street and say ‘Kaun hai ye, jisne mud ke mujhe nahi dekha‘ or even casually drop ‘phat- pretty, hot and tempting; gotchaa’ in the middle of a conversation, just for effect. You get the vibe, don’t you?
Well, so anything said about K3G, I take it personally.
Recently, in an interview, Karan Johar was questioned about his cult film and he said that Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was the biggest slap on his face. Yup KJo, you need a chill pill!
The filmmaker said, “I thought that I’m making the biggest film in Hindi cinema since Mughal-e-Azam until Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai.” He even admitted that his aim was to have a great star cast. Well, SRK, Kajol, Big B, Jaya ji, Kareena and Hrithik that is a great cast!
Talking about the movie, Karan added, “I made the same film as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, that’s what K3G was. I took the storyline of Kabhi Kabhie and the family values of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and made this mush of a film.”
“K3G is the single biggest slap in my face and my biggest reality check,” he added.
Talking on Audible Suno’s show, Picture Ke Peeche, he even admitted that he was Poo IRL. KJo said, “Poo, OMG! You should go and check online. There are lines, memes and games on Poo, but at the time only Bebo and I loved her character. I am Poo, that’s who I am, I wrote all the lines, picked the clothes, everything.”
Okay KJo, please don’t say K3G was a slap on your face. We are fanatics here. *It’s all about loving your family* (We can’t be friends if you don’t get that.)
