Bajaj Hai Ya Birla: Karan Singh Grover Is Getting Rs 75 Lakhs To Play Mr Bajaj On Kasautii
Karan Singh Grover, who we remember as Dr Armaan Malik from Dill Mill Gayye, is making a comeback to television with yet another iconic role. After six years of keeping away from the small screen, Karan is returning as Mr Rishabh Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay‘s reboot and is set to finally make his entry in tonight’s hour-long Maha-episode. Fans have been eagerly waiting for his entry ever since his first look as Mr Bajaj was revealed.
“My only two companions…Chaos and Victory. It’s time to attain another…we shall see,” wrote the actor on Instagram sharing his salt ‘n’ pepper look as Mr Bajaj. Tonight’s episode will tell if his portrayal is as ‘Man of Steel’ as his caption.
The 37-year-old actor took a break from the small screen after his last TV show, Qubool Hai, to enter Bollywood and got his first big break with the Bipasha Basu starrer Alone (2015). During the shooting of the film, the two fell in love and got married in April 2016.
According to initial reports, there was the buzz that Karan demanded a huge sum to play Mr Bajaj. But now that we know how ‘huge’ the amount actually is, it’s a big whoop!
According to a report by TellyChakkar, the actor is being paid Rs 75 lakhs per month for the show. Karan’s per day fee is approximately Rs 3 lakhs. In fact, he has demanded to work for only 12 hours a day and 25 days a month.
This comes as news because actors, especially in the TV industry, have often spoken against long working hours. For instance, Barun Sobti of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naan Doon said in an interview, “There is a labour law in the country which allows you to work for 45 hours a week, but TV actors, specially the lead actors, on an average, work close to 84 hours a week. I think there should be strict labour laws in the country.”
Apparently, Ekta Kapoor was keen on bringing KSG on board for the show and hence, agreed to all his demands. At this point, the latest promo throwing light on Mr Bajaj’s competitive character seems appropriate:
LOL!
Mr Bajaj, a business tycoon, is entering the show to take Basu Industries down. His character will create havoc in Anurag and Prerna’s life, who just got engaged. Now that Komolika is out of the picture (for now), there is a villain in their love story. Oh, we can smell the drama already.
