Director, producer and chat show host Karan Johar masterfully does it all. But is that all the versatile filmmaker can ace? We guess not because he recently partnered with the romantic radio station Ishq 104.8 FM as a radio jockey and love guru for the show, Calling Karan.
The show featured KJo giving advice on love and relationships to callers while revealing plenty of celebrity gossip. Since we absolutely loved the show, we rounded up some of our favourite moments of the chat show host. Scroll down to know more!
1. When Ranbir Kapoor crossed a line
It’s a well-known fact that Ranbir Kapoor makes mischief and he is always playing pranks on people. KJo revealed that Ranbir always checks the director’s phone, especially to read his texts. And one day Karan caught Ranbir in the act and screamed at him and immediately changed his phone’s password. But the actor keeps cracking the passwords he sets, which left Karan thinking that Ranbir has some sort of a tie up with his phone company.
2. When Karan advised a caller to be honest
In relationships, we are always expect our partners to be honest, but are we giving them the same level of acceptance and honesty? A caller named Samrat had the same problem. He explained to Karan that he is gay but his family doesn’t know about his sexual orientation. Due to family pressure, Samrat married a girl and now he can’t get intimate with her. Karan advised him that his wife doesn’t deserve to be in an unhappy marriage and told Samrat to be honest with her and follow his happiness.
3. When Karan apologised to Alia Bhatt
One caller asked Karan Johar on the show if he thought asking a celebrity to lose weight for a movie role amounted to body shaming. Karan gracefully admitted that he was guilty of the same when he asked Alia Bhatt (at the time of her debut film, Student of the Year) to lose weight. He believes that Alia’s obsession with her body and weight is all because of him and apologised to her.
4. When hygiene came in the way of love
A caller called Gaurav had the funniest, but the trickiest problem for Karan to solve. Gaurav said that he has an attractive girlfriend, but he can’t get intimate with her because she doesn’t take a bath! This poor guy tried everything from gifting her fancy perfumes and soap gels to to sharing Raveena Tandon’s famous tip tip barsa pani song to give her hints. But even that couldn’t get her to take a bath. Karan told him to stay away from this girl as personal hygiene is a childhood habit and getting her to break it won’t happen easily.
5. When Karan caught a caller red-handed!
Nothing escapes the relationship detective. In the episode on online dating, Karan received a call from Geetanjali. She was wondering if her ethics will be questioned if she starts dating her childhood friend’s boyfriend and asked Karan for his advice. But we all loved Karan’s witty reply, “Ethics ki to darling tum baat hi nahi kar sakte kyunki pehli swipe right to tumne kiya tha! And not to just freak him out but because you found him hot! Admit it.” Karan concluded that Geetanjali should be honest with her best friend but not give up on her love, too.
