Kangana Ranaut Calls Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt *Irresponsible* For Refraining To Discuss Politics
Kangana Ranaut has been at the heart of controversies for quite some time now. From calling Alia Bhatt’s existence as that of “Kjo’s puppet” to slamming Hrithik Roshan and Karan Johar in a war of nepotism, Kangana has gone all out to fearlessly call out Bollywood celebrities on their alleged wrongdoings. And she does it again! In a recent interview for her latest movie and directorial debut, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, she spoke at length about how Bollywood celebrities refrained from participating in any discussions about important political issues, which she considered “irresponsible”.
At the success bash of Manikarnika, Kangana admitted on having no intentions of joining politics thereby ending all speculations about the same. However, she believed that it was extremely “irresponsible” of certain Bollywood actors who tried their best to avoid engaging in discussions about politics. She revealed that while watching a certain interview, she heard Ranveer Singh or Alia Bhatt saying, “Hum politics ke baare mein kyun bolein? Humne kya kiya? Humne kuch nahi kiya,” to which Kangana responded, “Aise nahi chalta, you have to be responsible.”
She also admitted on hearing Ranbir Kapoor tell somebody that he didn’t need to get involved in politics because “mere ghar mein toh bijlee paani aata hai” to which she questioned, “How can you talk like that?”. She emphasised that they cannot just work in films and not talk about politics. This is their country and it’s where they live, and it’s the money of their own countrymen which enables them to sit in a Mercedes.
She expressed that she is not someone who will refuse to discuss politics just because she is in the acting business even if it is at cost of her own career. “Hum toh filmo mein kaam karne waale hain, hum kaise politics ki baat karein? This is irresponsible. Mere ghar mein bijlee paani aata hai toh iska matlab yeh nahi ki mujhe kisi ki padhi nahi hui,” she declared.
Hence, she believed that this should change and that the media should not listen to dialogues like, “I can’t talk about politics. Mujhe mere haal pe chodh deejiye. Mujhe toh sabse bana ke chalna hai.” She expressed that it’s important for these actors to know and tell people what they think. In a democracy, it’s their job to choose their leader on the basis of the work seen in the last 5 years of their country.
Kangana had earlier cancelled her party in solidarity with the Pulwama martyrs in February. Now that her movie reached the Rs 100 crore mark and with the return of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman – it was now a reason for a ‘double celebration’, said her spokesperson. Draped in a red and white saree, Kangana attended the party with her sister, Rangoli Chandel, her adorable nephew, Prithviraj and Manikarnika co-star, Ankita Lokhande.
