Bahu Bani Vamp: Jennifer Winget Talks About Why She Chooses Complex Roles

TV actress, Jennifer Winget, has the most captivating presence both, on and off-screen. Maybe that’s the reason her fans and her co-stars from the telly world adore her. From playing the righteous Dr. Riddhima Gupta in Dill Mill Gayee almost a decade back to being the evil and deadly Maya in both the seasons of Beyhadh, the versatile actress has played kind of roles generally labelled as good or bad characters. But Jennifer doesn’t believe in categorising her roles as ‘positive’ or ‘negative’.

In an interview with a leading daily, Jennifer said that she does not appreciate the categorisation of characters that the actor puts in too many efforts into. “I don’t like terms like negative character, positive or grey character. I think we are actors and it is beautiful to play all types of roles. It is more beautiful to play complex roles.”

Speaking about her negative character in Beyhadh, she said, “I was not at all skeptical when I came on board for Beyhadh. Many people ask me how it feels to play a negative character. Honestly, I don’t like such terms”. Well, we couldn’t agree more, Jen!

“It is a fictional character, and we are telling a story about one character. There is neither hero nor villain in the show. Beyhadh is very close to my heart and the entire journey season one onward has been out of the box. There was no doubt in my mind while reprising the character of Maya,” she added.

The actress is also simultaneously shooting for Alt Balaji’s Code M, a digital show in which she is playing an army officer. “I want to do all kinds of roles and with Code M, I got the chance to try out action. Also, coming back to Balaji is like coming back to my family. Ekta Kapoor is a fantastic person and when you work with such people it always feels great,” she added.

Jennifer also spoke about how she fits in the OTT medium. “For me what matters is the project. I believe in doing good work, and while working in the web medium I did not feel out of place at all,” she added.

Well, whether it’s a digital screen or the TV- there absolutely is no character that Jennifer can’t pull off. Can’t wait to see more of her on-screen!.
